Israel's former Prime Minister Sharon dies at 85

JERUSALEM (AP) — Ariel Sharon, the hard-charging Israeli general and prime minister who was admired and hated for his battlefield exploits and ambitions to reshape the Middle East, died Saturday, eight years after a stroke left him in a coma from which he never awoke. He was 85.

As one of Israel's most famous soldiers, Sharon was known for bold tactics and an occasional refusal to obey orders. As a politician he became known as "the bulldozer," a man contemptuous of his critics while also capable of getting things done.

He led his country into a divisive war in Lebanon in 1982 and was branded as indirectly responsible for the massacre of hundreds of Palestinians at the Sabra and Chatilla refugee camps outside Beirut when his troops allowed allied Lebanese militias into the camps. Yet ultimately he transformed himself into a prime minister and statesman. ...

Chris000 ???

Sharon was an interesting man with great accomplishments & failures, but still for Americans he should always draw our attention to this, Survey: Someone hit every two seconds by stroke, one dies of it every six seconds in the world.

I supoose this would apply as well, among others:

2 Peter 2:1-3
But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep

Amazing how some can get so twisted up with prophesy, conspiracy theories, etc; developing such an addiction and severity of tunnel vision that no matter how far off the rabbit trail the signals travel, their gaze and mental daze just can't be penetrated. They march on with such great zeal and ferver that instead of the evidence leading them back to reality, and admitting that the trail had never even been warm, the lack of evidence along with meaningless bits and pieces of scattered, unrelated information all become relevant pieces of a puzzle that will never quite fit together.

Be happy that Tony Cisneros, at least didn't use all caps. The important part of this whole thread should be, the fire signs of a stroke. Tony has reminded me about Red Hot Preaching and this is just one church in the Hammond/Chicago one can go to avoid that! Christian Fellowship Church.

This is a good time about time to dispel various Myths About Israel and Palestine and to point out Does God Have a Future for Israel?: A Study of Romans 11 (that's a rhetorical question. ).

But then, TC should have some worries about the Jesuits, Pope Francis: The Jesuit History of Suppression and Theology of Liberation.

SteveR, while some of that, "confession," may be good, may be excellent even, that particular part shows the idiocy of depending on confessions, papal decrees, etc. so instead of being new nonsense, it is just actually old nonsense? This is why we also have to be selective of what the church fathers said, or anybody else. Remember? It's the Bible alone, when it comes to the ultimate authority. Unfortunately, this is one of the errors that the reformed church can fall into, because of tradition, e.g.,Theology Adrift: The Early Church Fathers and Their Views of Eschatology.

So while dispensationalists, especially of the Calvinistic variety, The Calvinistic Heritage of Dispensationalism, actually have a fondness for certain reformed authors, they are accepted on face value.

A Sephardic Jew By Blood writes:
This came to pass in a mystical vision on 9 Cheshvan 5764 (4 November 2003) when Kaduri spoke with the Messiah; during this encounter, the Messiah revealed His name to Kaduri.

Kaduri later noted to his disciples that the revealed name of the Messiah was hidden among his writings.

The Belgic confession sounds like one of the dumbess
1) You would have to be Christian to appreciate it
2) 'Dumbess' isnt a word

"The Belgic Confession
THE oldest of the doctrinal standards of the Christian Reformed Church is the Confession of Faith, popularly known as the Belgic Confession, following the seventeenth-century Latin designation "Confessio Belgica." "Belgica" referred to the whole of the Netherlands, both north and south, which today is divided into the Netherlands and Belgium. The confession's chief author was Guido de Bräs, a preacher of the Reformed churches of the Netherlands, who died a martyr to the faith in the year 1567.

In the Netherlands it was at once gladly received by the churches, and it was adopted by national synods held during the last three decades of the sixteenth century. The text, not the contents, was revised again at the Synod of Dort in 1618-19 and adopted as one of the doctrinal standards to which all officebearers in the Reformed churches were required to subscribe. The confession stands as one of the best symbolical statements of Reformed doctrine. The translation presented here is based on the French text of 1619."

The Belgic confession sounds like one of the dumbess (you ought to have seen the word that Google speech wanted to put in for that previous word! )ideas yet. we have too many Catholic on this forum who don't want Come Out Of The Catholic Church One certainly should attend church, Why Should I Become an Active Member of a Church, but of course it should be a good church, e.g., something that at least should be considered Christian, where's the following isn't.

Getting back to Ariel Sharon, what a former captain in the Israeli army, and also Woman of the Year in Israel, either last year or the year before that, had to say about Ariel, the trap that Aeiel Sharon built. Getting back to the most important part of the article, as far as Americans are concerned, would be: the fire signs of a stroke. I have read, that the knowledge of the signs is low.

I figure Sharon died because he couldn't stand being around after Harold Camping had died last month.
re: Belgic Confessions
My wild guess is that fewer than one percent of members of 'churches' in the USA even know of it, and much less signed up for it.

You described a situation where there were no churches for 100 miles. Don't be so dumb! Why join an organization that one could not even describe as a church because it is so error ridden?

{Reformed}Belgic Confession Article 28: The Obligations of Church Members

We believe that since this holy assembly and congregation is the gathering of those who are saved and there is no salvation apart from it, no one ought to withdraw from it, content to be by himself, regardless of his status or condition.
But all people are obliged to join and unite with it, keeping the unity of the church by submitting to its instruction and discipline, by bending their necks under the yoke of Jesus Christ, and by serving to build up one another, according to the gifts God has given them as members of each other in the same body.

And to preserve this unity more effectively, it is the duty of all believers, according to God's Word, to separate themselves from those who do not belong to the church, in order to join this assembly wherever God has established it, even if civil authorities and royal decrees forbid and death and physical punishment result.

And so, all who withdraw from the church or do not join it act contrary to God's ordinance.

If you mean by trust mere mental assent that produces no radical change in a persons life, which is where you're at, then that is not the faith that the bible teaches.
Genuine faith produces love for the Savior and the person would rather obey The Lord than compromise. The Lord said if YE love me keep my commandments. The bible teaches that we are not to compromise with error but to be separate from it. What do we find you doing? You remain in an apostate organisation choosing what of its teaching you will accept, rather than obey the Lord's commandment to be separate. This is just one area where you believe that your faith exempts you from obedience to Christ and his word. But faith, obedience and love all go hand in hand. If you say you have faith but are devoid of obedience and love, you're plain deluded like all the countless other Graham 'converts' who remain in the RCC.
My Born Again Non Denominational brother accepts that I am Born Again and saved because I trust in Jesus alone for salvation. That means I put my entire trust in Jesus for salvation and not trusting in the Catholic Church for salvation.

Sure the above Churches will tempt & beguile anyone who walks in their doors, but I dont see much benefit for the move especially when it breaks up Christian relationships. I see Lutheran and Arminian churches awash in error too. Sure in other cases, its a sound move for a Catholic to seek out a sound Reformed Church with a good pastor, but those are hard to find. There might be just a handful within a 100 miles of a Catholic looking to move. But when people move, they often dont seek just doctrine so those handful of Churches often dont see many new people entering by profession of faith. All you need today is a social program, convenience and a unprincipled liar that hates the RCC to convert Catholics
