Church Displays Bleeding Trayvon Martin Nativity Scene

Outside the Claremont United Methodist Church is a nativity scene with a bleeding Trayvon Martin. The California Church has turned their nativity scene "into a piece of art that comments on our times" for the last seven years.

John Zachary, the artist, told me the acquittal in July of George Zimmerman, who fatally shot the 17-year-old African-American in 2012, struck him as a worthy subject for Christmas comment.

For one thing, the backdrop to the Christmas story is the slaughter by King Herod of all infants in Bethlehem, a barbarous attempt to kill the Messiah.

Zachary described that when looking for pictures of Trayvon "one of the teenager lying dead on the pavement particularly tore at him. 'What if Jesus was lying there bleeding to death? I was kind of thinking of that,' Zachary said." ...

That is because democrats/liberals judge themselves by intentions and feelings while judging everyone else by hard and tangible results, they claim they care the poor doing so with other people's money, their policies have created more of the poor for them to say they care about...with other people's money of course.

The poor as well as everyone else needs jobs and industry, but who is usually first in line to oppose jobs and industry ? because they care so much for the environment.....their "caring" is destroying us all.....what they care about is power through dependence

Good comment TeenChristian, you will soon see that all comments on SA go back to 2 main things. What version of the bible is the best and to whom do you vote for???

This kind of thinking in the reprobates shows how cults and false religions appear in our midst. They want to make a statement for Christmas???

How about man is depraved and going to hell whilst a tiny remnant are being saved. Society is morally corrupt and is blind to the truth. Millions of innocent babies are murdered daily by abortion and the nation accepts it as normal. Guilty of sodomy this nation gets their moral standards from the moral reasoning of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Supporting the poor...I'm all for it, but to condone the two items I mentioned to get there? I would do all I can on a personal level to help those in need before I would technically condone by voting into office the very people who keep the abortion laws active and are writing new ones for the sodomites.

The previous article was somewhat different Chris. I find this thread more entertaining than the former, because now we have an anti catholic poster openly distressed that a Church in CA is corrupting idols he holds so dear.

Jesus is an idol?

Its not that the nativity scene was defiled, it was that some reprobate had the audacity to place Trayvon in place of Christ. I dont know about you, but I dont like my Lord and Savior being blasphemed. While I'm not a fan of nativity scenes, (basically a graven image if Jesus, and the wise men werent even present at his birth) placing trayvon Martin in place of Jesus is disgusting. It should disgust anyone with a shred of spiritual discernment. And just as disgusting is the dumb racist sentiment Trayvon Martin gets, while thousands of blacks get killed by their own people, or whites get killed by blacks, and nobody bats an eyelash.

John,
Dont fall into the same trap your accusers have fallen into. Just as they falsely claim one cant be a Catholic and saved, you shouldnt conclude all democrats lost. I know some people that are against abortion and gay marriage but genuine concern for the poor has led them into the DNC ranks. With more and more GOPers falling into the abortion/gay marriage fire, I really cant find it in me to strongly admonish them
The reason why I switched from being a Democrat to a Republican was that there were no Democrats on the ballot that were against abortion and homosexuality and I was voting straight Republican anyway.

I shouldn't have even expounded on the racism comment because I've had my fill of it and fairly tired of arguing about it afterward. Just irritating, but, whatever.

Thanks, GS...I didn't want to say it because I was labeled as a racist the last time I said pretty much what you just did. Went on for days. Let's see, how would it go over if there were white high profile preachers the likes of Jackson, Sharpton, and Farrahkhan constantly inciting racism and breeding hatred. How would it go if white rappers lyrics told the whites to slaughter all the blacks, to shoot them, maim them, to beat them down whenever they saw one? How would it go if a white supremist group stood at the polls with clubs, threatening people if they didn't vote for the white guy, or put bounties on peoples heads? How would it go if white preachers were spewing racial hatred to their congregations on Sundays mornings? How would it go if a white 1st lady said she is finally proud to live in the US because a white was president? How would it go if a white president clearly defined himself as racist, caring only about the white child who gets killed by a black; even inciting racism? How would it go?

I agree GS, it's truly sad to see Christ defamed like this. A.W. Tozer was right, "The world usually takes the church in before the church takes the world in".
