Harvard Student-Run Christian Journal Apologizes for Saying Jews Deserve to Suffer for Killing Jesus

A student-run Christian journal at Harvard University has apologized after publishing an essay suggesting that Jews deserve to be punished for killing Jesus.

The article in the Harvard Ichthus, titled ‚ÄúWhy Us,‚ÄĚ was penned by an anonymous author who is reportedly a Jewish convert to Christianity.

‚ÄúWe, the Jews, collectively rejected God and hung Him up on a cross to die, and thus we deserved the punishments that were heaped on our heads over the last 2,000 years,‚ÄĚ the author wrote.

I wonder if the Lord accepted the statement of Jews concerning his death?

Matthew 27:24-25 KJV
24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

I doubt it, but I don't know for sure.

The elect - "deserve to be punished for killing Jesus" - But they will not be.

The elect alone are the only beneficiaries of His death, yet they are guilty of the sins which Christ has paid for.

Romans 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. 22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. 23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.

if one teaches Jesus is in hell in excrement, isn't that blasphemous? are these not the "holy writings"? is that not cause for concern? now how exactly will God bless that outside of the shedding of the scales off the eyes of the unregenerate?

False accusations of murderous anti semitism is quite a common reflex for those that defend the unbiblical views found in dispensationalism

Well isn't that what a lot of Reformed pastors teach? If they hadn't have rejected their Messiah, then there wouldn't have been a holocaust and God has now replaced them?
Current Judaism rejects Jesus as the messiah. The idea that the Jews suffered for the rejection of the messiah and the need of a messiah is offensive to Jews. The Boston Globe carries this Jewish sentiment.

J4, debating replacement theology is one thing but the Boston Globe couldn't care less about Christian theology. All Christianity is offensive.

Kill the Jews? Um, Ill pass. They're still God's people. Besides the Lord will straighten them out in the time of Jacobs trouble (better known as the tribulation).

The Jews are heirs to the promises specifically given to them by God. I'm not sure if those singers are supposed to be Jewish or why you would bring them up, lol.
I do not believe Pastor Johnny Hunt is a heretic! I wouldn't exactly take those peoples word for it who are in the Taliban.
Is it an insult to say R.C. Sproul teaches replacement theology? He might take it as point of pride.
Woe unto you John
Replacement theology is your faith. You are replacing People of Faith with proselytes of the Pharisees.

Matthew 23:15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

Yes, that is taught by them (even in light of Rms 11). I believe Martin Luther taught this and also O. Palmer Robertson, R.C. Sproul, Justin Martyr, John Piper, etc, etc.
Madonna, Jim Croce, Marilyn Monroe and Sammy Davis Jr are heirs to ALL the promises...yeah right

How does the heretic that teaches you this spoonfeed it? Lots of sugar and Holocaust guilt? If ethinic Hebrews are heirs, then you better fear as they were mostly absorbed into other peoples that are mostly Muslim now. The Pashtuns of Afghanistan(yep the Taliban types) trace their lineage to the tribe of Benjamin, they are also the ones we have fought in the mountains of Pakistan/Afghanistan. Let us not forget, Osama Bin Laden traces his heritage to Solomon

So please refrain from insuting fine Pastors like RC Sproul because you have no idea what you are talking about

Hebrews 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Replacement Theology is a gross caricature, a strawman and insult, of what Reformed Theology actually believes and teaches regarding the church and ethnic Jews, created by those opposed to Reformed Theology.

I wouldn't waste a moments time discussing such with someone who clearly is opposed to an honest and fruitful discussion.

Yes, that is taught by them (even in light of Rms 11). I believe Martin Luther taught this and also O. Palmer Robertson, R.C. Sproul, Justin Martyr, John Piper, etc, etc. Which then tends to lead itself to the idea that the end times/ last days prophecies already occurred as pertaining to Israel. Also, those who hold to replacement theology tend to not be supportive of Israel in our present day.

John, are you saying Reformed preachers teach that God doesn't keep his promises as it relates to the Jews? Just want to clarify, not accusing. I know they preach that ALL believers are spiritual Jews or Abraham's descendants because they have been granted inheritance to the kingdom. I personally do know of Reformed preachers teaching they (Jews) have been replaced somehow, especially in light of Romans 11.

John for JESUS,
What do you mean by replaced them? I know Paul extensively covers the rejection by the Jews in Romans, hence God turning to the Gentiles. But, I don't know about a replacement.
