Christian Apologist Josh McDowell: 3 Cultural Changes That Create the 'Perfect Storm' Against the Church
Josh McDowell, an apologist and evangelist, spoke at Southern Evangelical Seminary's Christian Apologetics conference on three culture changes that create a "perfect storm" that challenges and poses a threat to the church.
McDowell says the first is an epistemological shift that is occurring regarding Biblical truths due to modern perspectives on God's word.
"We've had a major shift in what truth is and where it comes from. We've gone from being God-centered to self-centered, from being objective to being subjective and from being internal to external," he said....
One of Satan's methods of trying to quote "destroy" the church is to convince people they have faith when in fact they don't.
But this deception leads to churches which appear to be real to those who are in the congregations. They think they have real faith and are saved. Liberal churches are the modern manifestation of this false faith and false church. Arminianism is a more traditional manifestation of this phenomena. If you can convince the non-Christians that they are saved and faith is a human faculty then what you have is a "church" full of people who are in darkness and are malleable to receive any old religious baloney.
McDowell's theories are from such a source and aimed at the same source.
Basically McDowell and co do not really trust God. Indeed they cannot.
Satan creates many counterfeit religious organisations like RCC, JW's, Mormon's, Liberals et al. The religious theories they are fed sound almost feasible - But the true Christian quickly perceives the deception.
McDowell is tuning into the church of human belief and conviction which is easily led into false concepts such as human philosophies old or new which can destroy the "church."
Man cannot destroy what God creates. Man can create a religious copy which is a nonentity.

Now here is a thought that sort of entertains McDowell’s thoughts regarding pornography, but with a different spin on it. I am not part of the no spin zone.
I prefer to go back to the beginning. Eve was deceived by Satan and wanted to be relevant in a sinful way. “You will be like God”. Adam was not deceived, but chose to listen to his wife rather than to his God (his loyalties became divided). Afterwards, lust entered into the world (who told you, you were naked) and God said that the woman would desire to control her husband even though God said that the man would rule over the woman. Now in today’s world we can see this scenario being played out before our eyes. The woman desires to control man and once again to be relevant in a sinful way. The primary way they can do that is through lust. So, they offer men sex or the possibility of sex in exchange for what they think is relevancy. Now throughout the centuries, this issue of women trying to control men in this manner is often not recognized and often enters into the church like a Trojan Horse in the form of evangelical feminism. A moral feminist is still a feminist. The question I ponder is how much lust or porn has affected our ecclesiastical lives indirectly rather than directly?
"And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." (Matthew 24:12-14)
I think stu hit the nail on the head. The churches message is the gospel of Christ unto salvation - all else is a matter of this NOT being done.
