Pope Francis assures atheists: You don’t have to believe in God to go to heaven
In comments likely to enhance his progressive reputation, Pope Francis has written a long, open letter to the founder of La Repubblica newspaper, Eugenio Scalfari, stating that non-believers would be forgiven by God if they followed their consciences.

Responding to a list of questions published in the paper by Mr Scalfari, who is not a Roman Catholic, Francis wrote: “You ask me if the God of the Christians forgives those who don’t believe and who don’t seek the faith. I start by saying – and this is the fundamental thing – that God’s mercy has no limits if you go to him with a sincere and contrite heart. The issue for those who do not believe in God is to obey their conscience.

“Sin, even for those who have no faith, exists when people disobey their conscience.” ...

So as far as the RCC is concerned, you aren't RC. The only thing holding it all together is you pretending to be something you are not. Wouldn't that be known as make believe religion, John Y?
I am considered by the RCC to be an RC in good standing since they are not and never will be cognizant of my beliefs. And thus I am not pretending to be Catholic because I was Baptized Catholic and I worship at a Catholic Church.

No, all priests are not rogue because there are RC priests who preach about trusting in Jesus alone for salvation. My previous parish priest preached about trusting in Jesus alone for salvation.

All priests are rogues, John Y., which The Scandal of the Catholic Priesthood. Roman Catholic Authority (PDF probably now HTML) has no Biblical authority, John Y., it gets it's authority from the god of this world.

Matthew 23
15 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel about on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.---NASB

Apparently by sheer accident Frannie was right about one thing anyway, Gasp! I have to agree with him completely with his statement, when he says "a true Christian cannot be anti-Semitic". What a pity he didn't add a true Christian can't be Catholic either, Should Roman Catholicism really be classified as a Christian religion? -- No. (PDF (May be HTML).

Dorcas . . re: your comment:
“ The Lord led me to Pastor Pickett a few weeks ago through SermonAudio."
*********
This is an answer to heartfelt prayer!
You can rest assured that you will be greatly blessed by his Spirit-filled preaching/teaching ministry! Through letters we have exchanged with him in recent years,we have found him to be most personable, as well as a compassionate & caring shepherd of the flock. We now regard him as our pastor and he in turn regards us as members of his congregation. We have found true Christian fellowship through his ministry, and as such we support him both prayerfully & through our offerings.
In that we do not drive anymore and have health issues which limit our mobility, we must worship in our home as did the early church. We count it a privilege to sit under his faithful ministry knowing we are in the company of those who are of like precious faith who worship the Lord in spirit and in truth! (Jo 6:63)
We have found in Pastor Pickett a fulfillment of the words of Jeremiah:
"I will give you pastors according to mine own heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding." (Jer. 3:15)
There is much I could say to commend his preaching to you but that he preaches CHRIST in all his fulness speaks volumes!

No my current priest is not rogue. But like I stated my previous priest was rogue because he preached that Born Again means to embrace Jesus as ones Savior by praying to Him and ask Him to become ones Savior, not through Baptism.
Why do you voluntarily sit under the teaching of a non-rogue priest who doesn't teach biblical born again doctrine?

The Priest who married my wife and I, I would have considered "rogue". He wasn't your run of the mill, staunch, by the book Priest. He would defend some practices/doctrines of the church, but would agree with me that others were questionable. He seemed out of place to me...like he was struggling and could have been reached, eventually. Unfortunately, he was an alcoholic and just couldn't get rid of the demons that oppressed him. Shortly after our wedding, he hung himself off the Newport, RI bridge. Really tragic because he was a genuinly great person. He was a marine chaplan and saw a lot of carnage in the gulf war, etc.

Your Catholi family could easily learn the Evangelical Protestant doctrine of salvation that salvation comes only through embracing Jesus as ones Savior just by watching old Billy Graham Crusades on television and watching other Evangelical Protestant ministers on television.
