Joel Osteen Pressed on Homosexuality; Says He Didn't 'Choose to Be Straight'
Evangelical Christian pastor Joel Osteen attempted to defend his views on homosexuality in a televised interview Thursday, saying that he believes homosexuality is a sin and not "God's best." Toward the end of the interview, Osteen affirmed that he did not "choose" to have an heterosexual orientation.
Osteen began the interview by referencing his new book, I Declare: 31 Promises to Speak Over Your Life, saying that his goal as a pastor is to lift his congregants up, and instill a good sense of self-image in each one of his service attendees.
Soledad O'Brien, host of CNN's "Starting Point," then steered the conversation toward the subject of homosexuality, asking Osteen if he believes that homosexuality is a sin....

Hi James, my opinion of Osteen isn't based on this one interview, but many that I've listened to. Osteen, as his Father was, is an inclusionist and skates around every single, fatal, biblical issue so as not to offend anyone. That's why his church membership is enormous. His message is: come as you are and no need to change...if you are a decent person and say you love God, then you're all set for Heaven. Kind of like the RCC claiming that we all worship the same god but have different ways of getting there. You can always bet that any church that large is either Catholic, Charismatic, majoring in faith healing, or a promoter of the ecumenical movement.
Thanks for this comment; I agree with it fully. Osteen is like Rick Warren; ("in context") they sometimes sound legitimate and sometimes heretical. He is clearly ecumenical and a pluralist in his heart. He stands for nothing except what benefits him. Anyway, thanks again for your thoughts.

James from LA Remember that he voluntarily entered said viper pit. He was there to proclaim the truth of the gospel right? Nope he was there to promote his new book, "Gnosticism light for Dummies"
"Osteen affirmed that he did not "choose" to have an heterosexual orientation....his goal as a pastor is to lift his congregants up"
But he does choose to mislead his followers by not preaching the truth! Judgment will come upon these false preachers.
Jer 23:21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. 22 But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.
How wicked it is to lie to people about their sins and not love them enough to preach the truth and do it just for a buck!

Yup! Used car salesmen can sell even the most tired of old bangers.
It's amazing to me how these guys, being raised in the church and so knowledgable can be so far removed from the word of God. Like the faith healers, and so-called prophets, they are so certain of their salvation even though they stray so far from and compromise the word of God leading so many to destruction. Destruction, among other reasons, because many fall away after being disallusioned to all of the current heresies and fakaries.

If you are only out to make sure you can fill your stadium and sell books then you are never going say anything that might be offensive. I wish this man were not even called a Christian. He is spineless and, like crissy said, he is deceived. Or worse he is a deceiver.
