BTW, it may be appropriate to point out here that contrary to the usual oil-conspiracy theories, our involvement in the Mideast could with better justification be blamed on Nixon's 1973 quid pro quo with the Saudis, in that OPEC requires payment in dollars for oil (forcing many nations to trade their currency for ours) in exchange for our protecting them against Reds & other Mideast powers.
