Beyond the protests on Wall Street, there is a battle brewing between the religious left and the religious right.
So-called “religious left” voices have praised Wall Street occupiers whose demands range from cancellation of all debt, open borders, government control of health care and free college education, among other expansions of big government.
Institute on Religion & Democracy president Mark Tooley points squarely at Sojourners chief Jim Wallis, who has praised the Wall Street occupiers. Tooley also notes pacifist activist Shane Claiborne, who has compared the occupiers to St. Francis of Assisi. Even Massachusetts clergy joined the occupiers wearing saintly white robes, Tooley notes, and officials of United Methodist Women flocked to the occupiers with their own similar placards urging class warfare....

Jim Wallis praises the occupiers? It shouldn't surprise anyone that a spiritual advisor to Mr Obama would do so. I'm sure Wallis' wife, Rev. Carroll, CofE, feels likewise. Knee-jerk liberals have pretty much the same pathetic worldview, whether they attach to themselves a religious title, or a political one.

In a way, the Roman Empire lasted into the 15th century, the eastern half anyway, and has a quite interesting history of its own. Byzantine Empire. Even if it was more Christian (in some respects) and more civilized, it still collapsed. The only stable government that will ever be established is one established by Christ, not by men.
Very good point, Randy. And surely, it can't be because Rome was morally exemplary either. Despite the Roman Virtues, there was organized violence, polytheistic idolatry, superstition, sexual depravity, statism, & judicial/political corruption. It is a wonder that the Empire lasted so long.
people have got to stop letting the tv dictate to them reality. when I happen to pass by a tv news programming-your-mind, I am overwhelmed by the tactics used to control the thinking. I also notice that multiple stations, journalists, etc will use the same phrasing, same name-calling as if there is one script for all. Its a stunning thing to watch. I appreciate that SP at least takes the time to go and see the events discussed.
There's clips available of stories done before where there was blatant deception, such as the man who was supposedly in a concentration camp in kosovo, turns out the journalist just had pictures taken from inside the facility through the fence looking out. THe dude he was filming was outside and free, but the filming angle made it look like he was inside locked up.
