Vatican confirms report of sexual abuse and rape of nuns by priests in 23 countries
The Catholic Church in Rome made the extraordinary admission yesterday that it is aware priests from at least 23 countries have been sexually abusing nuns.

Most of the abuse has occurred in Africa, where priests vowed to celibacy, who previously sought out prostitutes, have preyed on nuns to avoid contracting the Aids virus.

Confidential Vatican reports obtained by the National Catholic Reporter, a weekly magazine in the US, have revealed that members of the Catholic clergy have been exploiting their financial and spiritual authority to gain sexual favours from nuns, particularly those from the Third World who are more likely to be culturally conditioned to be subservient to men. ...

I really like to keep my comments to one part of the day. This so my comments don't keep popping up, which some of you will appreciate.

It is interesting I can only find the complete article about this disgusting behavior by priests towards nuns at two places the Church of Satan and Richard Dawkin's site! Has the Vatican been able to squash, what is obviously a true story?

It is interesting that African Catholic priests have such a "holier than thou," attitude about queer priests! Apparently old-fashioned rape is entirely ok?

At least the excerpt that SermonAudio has is still around, and I did find a complete article, that isn't on an anti-Christian site, The Harlotry Of Rome. This is probably a good copy of the original article.

The site itself I have some qualms about, as I do any aggressively pro-kjv site. But, I suppose I could overlook that if I knew more about the site. However, it is interesting how anti-Christians equating the RCC with Christianity, which it isn't, Should Roman Catholicism really be classified as a Christian religion? -- No. (PDF) use it to attack Christianity.

True, Kelly, Should Roman Catholicism really be classified as a Christian religion? -- No., Many know about The Scandal of the Catholic Priesthood, but the idea of nuns? Where is that found in the Bible?

Titus 2
3 Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips, nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good,
4 that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be dishonored.---NASB

Saying that nuns are "married" to Christ is akin to say another unnatural relationship such as homo "marriage" is a valid relationship.

Yes, Ian Paisley's website is a good place to read about nuns, q.v., Inferno Monacale - The ‘Hell of Nuns’ (Part 1) and Inferno Monacale - The ‘Hell of Nuns’ Part 2 .

Why should protestant churches be surprised? Sin is Sin. Lost men are lost men. Protestants have dealt with R.Catholocism in the 16th century fighting for the Gospel. The Roman Catholic world needs the true Gospel of Christ.

"Most of the abuse has occurred in Africa, where priests vowed to celibacy, who previously sought out prostitutes, have preyed on nuns to avoid contracting the Aids virus."

"Practical" priests???

Makes a change from paedophilia!!

"But let us hear Giesler, author of the "Text Book of History." That most competent witness, speaking of the clergy, says: "Their chief offence, their incontinence, seemed to grow worse, the more there was done to restrain it. In no century had there been so many decrees passed against the concubinage of the clergy, as in the fifteenth, yet in none were complaints so common of their incontinence (which in Italy degenerated into unnatural vices), as well as derision and lamentation over the inefficiency of all the means used to restrain them. The number of the offenders made it difficult or impossible to carry into effect the more severe punishments, whilst the avarice of the Bishops substituted a pecuniary mulct, afterwards changed into an annual tax. The commonness of the offence made it seem to the clergy a light thing; of course the laity could not be expected to view it in any other light, and in consequence the vice increased to a fearful degree." (From Ian Paisley .org)
