Most Americans believe in a God who answers prayers but some say those prayers won't work unless you pray regularly and believe "certain things."
Those were among the findings in a new USA TODAY/Gallup survey on prayer, timed to Thursday's National Day of Prayer. This year the NDP is a headliner due to a legal challenge and to lightening-rod-for-critics Rev. Franklin Graham, honorary chairman of the private evangelical National Day of Prayer Task Force.
For some it only works if it's a regular practice: 19% say "Prayer is effective only if a person prays regularly." Others say doesn't have to be regular (14%). But most (60.8%) say how often you pray "has no impact" on whether your prayers will be effective....
John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask IN MY NAME, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing IN MY NAME, I will do it.
John 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father IN MY NAME, he will give it you. 24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing IN MY NAME: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
John 16:26 At that day ye shall ask IN MY NAME: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
**IN MY NAME** according to the Son of God, is how God reacts to prayers. THAT is Christian praying!!
We don't need a Gallup Poll, or a Trot, of even a walk Poll, to tell us what the answere is. We have God's Word. People today are trying to find the truth by looking at common consenses rather that by looking at the objective standard of scripture. What if people tied this method with Carpentry? Forget a rule or tape measure; what does everyone else think a 2x4 should be. Try it in Mechanics. Forget the Manual; what do the polls say about what a six cylinder is.
Hum national day of prayer? lets stop kidding ourselves into believing that one day is going to make this country more pleasing to God. I wish Christians would start being in the world and not of the world. We need to pray for revival not some man made notion of saving this country. Everyday should be national day of prayer for the Militant Church and its believers. God Bless his Church not the State.
