Florida Christian man spearheads 'The Restoration of Stephen Baldwin'
Evangelicals are a comparatively rare breed in the secular, Left Coast world of Hollywood. But has it reached the point where they're actual charity cases?
That seems to be the message, at any rate, of a new website called "The Restoration of Stephen Baldwin." It solicits donations on behalf of the youngest member of the four-brother Baldwin clan of actors, who became a born-again Christian after wrestling with some substance-abuse demons and has lately been an outspoken advocate of conservative causes.
The site is the brainchild of Lyn Fletcher, a hardware-store owner in Live Oak, Florida, who told Yahoo! News that he launched it last fall when he first heard that the actor, who filed for bankruptcy last year, was in financial trouble.
