Jim, Actually I'm originally from Canada where we do spell behavior without the "u" and licenced does not contain a "s". Scourge and Experience are the fault of a Blackberry without autocorrect.

We currently have many licensed pharmaceuticals that are all superior in therapeutic effect for pain, nausea, IOP, and anxiety. All of these products are FDA approved and physician-prescribed and monitored. My experience is when patients want smoke cannabis prescribed they already are using it illegally and abuse it to receive the hallucinogenic effect. 100% of these patients abuse other drugs and have confided to me that cannabis was the "gateway" drug to these other drugs. In my opinion this is just a ruse to introduce greater acceptance and availability of another scourge on our society. Smoke cannabis offers no improved outcomes over the many existing treatment options, it is toxic when used in any amount, and it leads to further drug abuse behavior and life skill declines.
Well Worth Repeating !
This Is One Of The Few Issues Where I TOTALLY DISAGREE With Ex-Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura !

Conservatives who support the "War on Drugs" seem to have a double-standard about Constitutional limitations on Congress & the Executive branches. Close the DEA & leave drug regulation to the states. Better yet, allow liability jurisprudence to check destructive substance abuse.
I don't know why people assume one has to be drunk or high in order to act like an idiot. I see plenty of sober stupidity these days, & not just outside churches.
And there is Biblical precedent for using mind-altering substances to relieve chronic pain - Prov. 31:6, so why pick on cannabis etc? And no, I don't touch the weed or drink myself.
Apparently, the tobacco industry in the U.S. is looking forward to new product? Smoking cannabis is probably even more harmful to a person's health as smoking tobacco. The necessary pain killing material could be extracted from the weed so people don't have to smoke it.
The only legalization of hemp should be the type that is used in burlap sacks.
