Eight in 10 Americans favor legalizing medical marijuana
The medical marijuana debate among American voters is over.

Eight in 10 Americans -- 81% overall -- support allowing doctors to prescribe cannabis, according to an ABC News/Washington Post poll.

That's up from just 69% in 1997, the last time the two firms asked that question, and from 75% in 2003, according to Gallup.

Greeter, you're just going to have to specify American and not English spelling on that Blackberry.

Jim,
Actually I'm originally from Canada where we do spell behavior without the "u" and licenced does not contain a "s". Scourge and Experience are the fault of a Blackberry without autocorrect.

Its not often your right Jim, but you're wrong again.

Here in the United Kingdom of Sodom and Liberalism, we spell so....
Licensed
Experience
Scourge

But ....
*behaviour*
Not using the *U* is an American spelling as in harbor and labor etc.

Oh Jim it must be this malady of nasbiness which is troubling you.
Don't worry there is a cure for it..

anti-satanic, Greeter is no doubt of British origin, as such his spelling is correct. Remember what George Bernard Shaw said about we anglophones

Two great peoples separated by a common language.

This debate is a farce. As a clinician directly involved in the healthcare system I can honestly say that I have never seen a patient who I would qualify for medical smoke cannabis. We currently have many licensed pharmaceuticals that are all superior in therapeutic effect for pain, nausea, IOP, and anxiety. If one wants to prescribe cannabis, there already exists an oral synthetic THC analog, an oral purified THC capsule, and a intranasal spray. All of these products are FDA approved and physician-prescribed and monitored.
My experience is when patients want smoke cannabis prescribed they already are using it illegally and abuse it to receive the hallucinogenic effect. 100% of these patients abuse other drugs and have confided to me that cannabis was the "gateway" drug to these other drugs. In my opinion this is just a ruse to introduce greater acceptance and availability of another scourge on our society. Smoke cannabis offers no improved outcomes over the many existing treatment options, it is toxic when used in any amount, and it leads to further drug abuse behavior and life skill declines.
Well Worth Repeating !

This Is One Of The Few Issues Where I TOTALLY DISAGREE With Ex-Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura !

Conservatives who support the "War on Drugs" seem to have a double-standard about Constitutional limitations on Congress & the Executive branches. Close the DEA & leave drug regulation to the states. Better yet, allow liability jurisprudence to check destructive substance abuse.

I don't know why people assume one has to be drunk or high in order to act like an idiot. I see plenty of sober stupidity these days, & not just outside churches.

And there is Biblical precedent for using mind-altering substances to relieve chronic pain - Prov. 31:6, so why pick on cannabis etc? And no, I don't touch the weed or drink myself.

Apparently, the tobacco industry in the U.S. is looking forward to new product? Smoking cannabis is probably even more harmful to a person's health as smoking tobacco. The necessary pain killing material could be extracted from the weed so people don't have to smoke it.

The only legalization of hemp should be the type that is used in burlap sacks.
