Pope Benedict Lambastes Godless Modern Societies
ROME — Pope Benedict XVI warned Sunday that modern culture is pushing God out of people's lives, causing nations once rich in religious faith to lose their identities.

Benedict celebrated a Mass in the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls to open a worldwide meeting of bishops on the relevance of the Bible for contemporary Catholics.

"Today, nations once rich in faith and vocations are losing their own identity, under the harmful and destructive influence of a certain modern culture," said Benedict, who has been pushing for religion to be given more room in society. ...

No, John, we attack the papacy for pushing a Satanized society. Having a society that supports The Doctrine of Apostates is a Godless society. Supporting the The Perils of Popery is really no better than atheism.

Geneva Bible Notes wrote:
I Timothy 6
5 wranglings (c) of men corrupted in mind and bereft of the truth, supposing that godliness is a way of gain.

(c) Such as we see in those shameless schools of popery, which are nothing else but vain babbling and foolish talking.

I think that is what people here are saying...despite the Pope's criticism, what about himself and the institution he leads. Is it godly? Holding the truth and delivering unadulterated truth?
This news story is about the Pope criticizing godless societies, not about what the Pope teaches. If the Pope criticizes godless societies then you Fundamentalist Protestants should be in agreement with the Pope criticizing godless societies instead of criticizing the Pope for criticizing godless societies.

Enough already, I'm sorry my reply came across as flippant. That was not my intention.

When I spoke of sin, I was not referring so much to grave matters like murder and adultery, but to all the minor sins that we commit all the time: impatience, unkind words, little lies, and such things.

Each one of these is a blot on the soul, and while not deserving of hell, they are all hateful in the sight of God.

But as you imply, the true believer repents of them as soon as they are committed, and it is only with God's grace that it is possible to repent of them.

Lance- your flippant attitude towards God's Holy Word shows lack of reverence and awe for a Majestic God. His word should be deemed precious, holy, life-changing, not referred to as a 'quote'. We should pant, thirst, and hunger for deeper wisdom of knowledge of this Awesome God who created all the living.
True born again believers are not perfect and sinless, but we do not commit deliberate sins, we have been given power over sin by God. Our reverence for Him keeps us from going out and killing, being sexually immoral, stealing, lying, etc. That is why it is essential to understand that true salvation is God's gift, given because of His grace and mercy to all who acknowledge their sin, repent, and surrender to the authority of Christ in their life. The mark of a true believer is a changed life, an inward change...a work of God in the heart and mind of the new creation in Christ. Only the power of God can transform a lost sinner into a born again believer.

An interesting quote. I'll follow it up.

Nevertheless, there must be more to the interpretation than meets the eye, since there is obviously no one who does not continue to sin (even if in only very small ways). Maybe it's a matter of the degree to which you are born of God. Maybe it's an ideal that nobody fully reaches in this life.

Lance, you fail to understand the new birth, the power of God's Holy Spirit within the new creation in Christ keeps him/her from willfully, deliberately sinning against a Holy God. "No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the Devil are; anyone who does NOT do what is right is NOT a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother" 1 John 3:9,10. That is not a prot teaching Lance, that is what God's infallible word teaches. Once again, you are in error. Your 'purgatory' doesn't exist Lance, it is not found in God's Holy Word. If it isn't in the Bible, it isn't of God. No one here will come on board your RCC train Lance, you will find no converts or takers here. RCC lies and deceit will always be exposed by those who are truly born again, by God, not church 'tradition'.

Purgatory is there for a reason.

Lance;
You left Christ Jesus completely out of your equation.

But dont worry we Protestants have noticed you leave Him out of a lot of things - salvation for example.

Bible teaches that Christ's righteousness is imputed to the True Christian.
Isaiah 45:24 Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come

2Cor 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

The reason for Purgatory, iaw your religious hypothesis, is salvation by works.

Lance, it is ironic, you DENY God's word is the final authority, yet you'll take a verse here and there and twist it to FIT your RCC cult, and say 'see, see, we are the 'church!', when, in reality, Christ never says so, but makes it very clear who is His bride. Enough scriptural proof and time has been wasted; sad for you, gg and John Y., your cult will lead you straight to hell. May God have mercy on you, open your spiritually blind eyes and hardened heart to the real Jesus of the Bible, not a wafer, not any apparition or statue of Mary, not a work that must be done over and over, not an outward appearance of 'looking good', yet the inside is filthy, riddled with sin; arrogance, homosexuality, apostasy, pride, greed, boasting, sexual immorality of every kind, and that's just the priests! Never would such a church or it's members enter heaven, read your bible Lance. Nothing sinful will enter, and your beloved pope, priests, traditions, etc. are all sin infested and an abomination to the Lord. If you follow this cult, you will die and face judgment...period.

Lance, According to God's own word, the 'church', or body of Christ, is NOT the RCC, but is instead a people from every tongue, tribe, nation {Rev. 5:9}. This is what God's word says, so keep your twisted opinion to yourself, as for most here, we believe God over you. You and GG's opinions are wearing very, very thin here; do all a favor, take your cult opinions elsewhere. I am sure there are many rcc sites you can frequent, then you will be with your own 'kind'.

I was in Rome last week when the cardinals meet with the Pope. And I saw the arrogance and the blindness of Roman. She contradicts and twists everything that Christ taught and stood for. It is iarrogance to say that one denomination is the true Church. As an ex R.C religious, I am more that aware of Rome’s arrogance and its twisting of God’s word. R.C’s fail to realise that Christ criticized the Pharisee’s for putting their traditions over and above God’s commands. A sin that the RC Church is also guilty of. The RC Church did not give us the Bible it was given to us by God. Therefore to go against its clear teachings is to go against God. The keys given to Peter where for the opening and closing the Kingdom of God yet this is given by also to other Christians. Paul spoke of God given him an open door to preach and in Rev 3:7 it talks about ..’the true one, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut’ The authority of the whole Church is in Christ who is the Rock in which it is built. It is the preaching of the gospel which brings forgiveness of sin and the power of binding and losing is in the preaching thereof. The Roman Church is guilty of apostasy and adding to the revelation of Christ and thus stands in serious error

GG- the 'church' is not one distinct denomination, you are in error...again!!!
Rev. 5:9 clearly states Christ purchased, with His blood, a people from every tribe, language, and nation. The body of Christ is a variety of saved souls from all walks of life! As for Peter being the rock, WRONG!! Notice the context of the text, 'on this ROCK', Jesus is the rock...do a word study on 'rock' and every time in references right back to Christ. Again, I re-emphasize what Christ did NOT say, 'upon you Peter', it was the greek meaning of 'Cephas'- rock- that Christ was pointing out. As far as binding and loosing, ALL true believers have the same authority, through Christ, to bind and loose. You are blinded by Satan and his church, how frightening it will be for you when you step into eternity and shudder at the blackest black you will ever know, the darkness that engulfs you know does not compare with what lies ahead. All because you are stiff-necked and refuse to believe SOLELY what the Holy Word of God teaches, nothing else added. You believe you are saved because some church says you are! Yet, your mind and heart remain unchanged, in sin, and dead to the things of God.

No, G.G., Constantine's Church, the RCC was not founded by Christ, Were the Early Christians Roman Catholics?
II Thessalonians 2
4he that opposeth and exalteth himself against all that is called God or that is worshipped; so that he sitteth in the temple of God, setting himself forth as God.
Jamieson,Fausset&Brown wrote:
....The previous world kingdoms had each one extraordinary person as its representative head and embodiment (thus Babylon had Nebuchadnezzar, Da 2:38, end; Medo-Persia had Cyrus; Greece had Alexander, and Antiochus Epiphanes, the forerunner of Antichrist); so the fourth and last world kingdom, under which we now live, shall have one final head, the concentrated embodiment of all the sin and lawless iniquity which have been in pagan and papal Rome. Rome's final phase will probably be an unholy alliance between idolatrous superstition and godless infidelity.
Christian and Catholics -- never together!

Along with Scripture God give us the Church, not just a Church, but the Church founded by Jesus Christ. Jesus promised he would not leave us orphaned and he would send us the H.S., who would lead us to all truth. We see this guaranteed by him, when he gives Peter the ability to "bind and loosen", an ability which he did not give to Luther, Calvin, nor Knox. Thus, the RC is protected from serious theological error because of the direct protection of God himself. This is why there are over 25k Protestant Sects in the world and only one Catholic Church. We sit upon the 3-legged tool. One leg is Holy Scripture, one leg is Holy Tradition and one leg is the teaching Magesterium of the Church. Therefore, other Churches have no legs to stand on.
