Rising Protestant tide sweeps Catholic Brazil
CARAPICUIBA, Brazil (Reuters) - For years, Ronaldo da Silva's daily routine consisted of drinking himself into a stupor until he passed out on a sidewalk.

Now he spends his days praying and singing with hundreds of fellow Christians at the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God in Carapicuiba, a sprawling shantytown on the outskirts of Sao Paulo where Pentecostal congregations are found on just about every block.

"I'd probably be dead or in jail if it weren't for this church," said da Silva, a 38-year-old former Catholic who claims God cured him of epilepsy and helped him straighten out his life when he converted to Pentecostalism a decade ago. ...

Most people are following the crowd, and the crowd is wrong. The crowd is the world of disobedient souls that are patronizing one another in their sins.
If we are not willing to stand up and speak up, our silence is a voice of consent to evildoers.

The church is supposed to be the conscience of the nation, but it has backed away from persecution by its silence and that is the reason sin is rampant.

Jesus said that the world hated Him because He testified that the works of the world were evil. If we are lifting the standard of holiness, we will be hated also, but that is the price of a true relationship with Him. He said that if they love Him, they will love us; if they hate Him, they will hate us also. The disciple is not above his master.

When we fail to stand against the sins of the preceeding generations, we are compromising with those around us that endorse those sins. If we call the evildoers our forefathers, we will be judged with them for their deeds.

If my father were a murderer, it would be wrong for me to defend him and declare his innocence to maintain friendship with those who condoan his sins. We must take a stand against all evil and not compromise to please others. That is what Jesus meant when He said, "Fill ye up then..."

John Yurich,
Why would you say that anyone who is a R.C. and gets saved and leaves the R.C. church to join a protestant church is off their rocker???
You have mentioned before that staying in the R.C. church is not a sin.
All disobedience to God's Word and unrighteousness is sin. Hebrews commands every believer to "not" forsake the assembling of the believers together. To intentionally disobey God's clear command is a sin.
Also, I do not know of one born-again believer who believes he has to attend a fundamentalist church to go to heaven(which you have also stated).
Continue in God's Word, eventually it(power to penetrate your innermost)will convict and change if you truly have accepted Jesus Christ and Him alone as your Savior. Hebrews 12:4

So if your father was a thief then you should go to jail....how fair is that? No thanks...I'll stick to American law and the Constitution. Since I have not read that you renounce the evils that England imposed on her Irish and English Catholic subjects, nor the deadly effects of the Great Potato Famine of 1847, then I suppose you are just as guilty as the men that let 2 million Irish starve to death.

Jesus said, "...because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets. Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers." (Matt. 23:31-32).

If we do not renounce the evils of the generations which have preceeded us, and separate ourselves from them, we are guilty of their wickedness, for we would have done as they had we been there.

"Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord." (Rom. 6:17-18).

JY, in your post to Albert, you listed all of the things a Roman Catholic would have to do if they truly got saved. With such a long list of things that are unscriptural, why not just stop going to the RCC! Duh!

Excuse me Abigail but, if I as a Catholic am responsible for the Inquistion, which I am not btw, then you are responsible for all of the killings, starvation and horrible deaths suffers by Catholics at the hands of your co-religious. Sound fair to you? No it doesn't...so drop that crap...OK? Also...since you are not God (You aren't God are you?), then you can't know what stands between any child of God and their salvation. I beg of you....use your head for something other than a hat rack.

To John Yurich:

When we affiliate ourselves with an organization, we stamp our seal of approval on everything that that organization promotes and practices. By being a member of RCC you are stating that you are a part of every atrocity and action taken by the RCC. You are guilty of the bloocshed of the millions of martyrs that suffered under the RCC. There are many things I can name such as: infallibility of the Pope and vicar of Christ; purgatory, praying to saints (necromancy), bowing to statues, penance and indulgences, etc--that are antichrist. The Word of God condemns these things, and by belonging to the RCC you are a part of it. Heresy (false doctrine) is a work of the flesh that cannot inherit the Kingdom of God (consigns to eternal punishment) (Gal. 5:20). For whatever reason that you still affiliate yoursel with the RCC, that stands between you and salvation. I beg of you to consider these words, and follow the Lord Jesus Christ, studying His words, and seek to be filled with the Spirit and led by the Spirit. I am not condemning you, Jesus Christ's words condemn you--He is the way, the truth and the life.

No, Im stating that you must believe the WORD OF GOD and obey what HE wants you to do.
So why go and give your money time and worship in a place that knows not the LORD nor his ways, and sit and keep your big gub shut, when in fact GOD saves you to serve HIM by bringing the Gosple to others.
Read my last post, and see if you can say you don't walk with the ungodly nor sit in their tents(church)

But Hey if your were born again, you would know this from GODS WORD and be lead by HIS SPIRIT out of sinning

Thats Why "ye must be born again"

Albert,

Are you stating that if an RC receives Christ as their Savior on their deathbed that they will not gain entrance into Heaven because they did not leave the RCC? Just who do you think you are anyway to state that I am not saved? Do you have the ability to see into the heart of anybody to tell who is saved and who is not saved? No of course you do not because you are not Christ. Just because I have not left the RCC and have not joined a Fundamentalist Protestant Church does not mean that I am not saved because it is not required for salvation and gaining entrance into Heaven for someone who has received Christ as their Savior to leave Non Fundamentalist Protestant Churches. Nowhere in the Bible does it state that everybody who receives Christ as their Savior has to belong to a Fundamentalist Protestant Church or else they will in no way gain entrance into Heaven. Church membership is totally superfluous to salvation and gaining entrance into Heaven.

Albert,

Well naturally if an RC receives Christ as their Savior they would cease praying to the Virgin Mary and the Saints for intercession, they would cease believing that the bread and wine are the actual body and blood of Christ, they would cease believing that the Mass is a sacrifice, they would cease believing that Baptism remits sin and imparts salvation, they would cease praying to and bowing down to statues and pictures of the Virgin Mary and the Saints, they would cease bowing down to a Crucifix, they would cease believing in Purgatory, they would cease believing that the Pope is the Vicar Of Christ, they would cease believing that the Pope is infallible, they would cease going to Individual Confession and instead confess their sins directly to Christ and they would not participate in the unscriptural parts to the Mass but instead would only participate in the scriptural parts to the Mass and thus they would not be worshipping idols but would instead only be worshipping Christ and thus they would gain entrance into Heaven when they pass away. Romans 10:9-10 is the only thing that is required for salvation and gaining entrance into Heaven. Belonging to a Fundamentalist Protestant Church is not required for salvation and gaining entrance into Heaven.

Jim Lincoln and Faithful Remnant: If church membership is totally superfluous to salvation and gaining entrance into Heaven then why do you keep stating that when a Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox or Mainline Protestant receives Christ as their Savior that they have to leave the Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church or Mainline Protestant Church and join an Evangelical/Fundamentalist Protestant Church? If you can not see into the heart of anybody then you can not state categorically that if an RC who receives Christ as their Savior stays in the RCC that they are not a Christian. Just because an RC who has received Christ as their Savior does not leave the RCC does not mean that they are not saved. Let's clear this up once and for all. If an RC receives Christ as their Savior before they pass away will they gain entrance into Heaven? You guys keep stating that if an RC who has received Christ as their Savior does not leave the RCC and does not join an Evangelical/Fundamentalist Protestant Church that they will in no way gain entrance into Heaven. And that is totally false because when everybody stands before Christ will not require that everybody had belonged to a Fundamentalist Protestant Church.

Off their rocker, John Yurich? Sure, you bet. Even Jesus was accused of being possessed by the devil when doing the work of the truth, so no surprise you think people are off their rocker for seeking closer identity with a true church.

No roman catholic can be saved in that religion, because to be saved according to the scriptures, one must repent, which means to tell God you are sorry for your sins and turn away from them ( as Jesus said, "go, and sin no more") and accept that the only way you can do this is because Jesus took your punishment.

Catholicism widely practices idolatry of Mary and the saints, as well as many other practices that God forbids. One cannot be saved by Gods holy spirit and continue such practices without strong conviction( and to be saved in the first place you must know where you've sinned, stated in the law, and admit them before God)

If someone in the Catholic church is truly saved of God, they would quickly disassociate themselves from it and follow the Christ of the bible instead.

I pray that anyone who haven't given their life to the Jesus of the Bible is convicted by the holy spirit upon reading this, because hell IS real, as a perfect God must punish and cannot tolerate sin, and the prospect of myself or others going there frightens me, as it should everyone else.

Ah, John, like a bad penny, you return again, eh? aiding and abetting the apostate Roman Catholic Church. Naturally, a Christian would come out of the Roman Church!

http://www.johnankerberg.org/Articles/roman-catholicism/RC0200W2.htm

for the reasons given in the above article. As I pointed out, another pastor, James McCarthy, in "Staying in Hope of Changing the Church," that the Roman Church corrupts everything including Pentecostalism!

http://www.johnankerberg.org/Articles/roman-catholicism/RC1001W1.htm

A person leaving the Catholic Church isn't nuts, but he isn't Christian, if he knows what you do, John, and stays.

Of course I can add. It is never Christians and Catholics together!

I wouldn't exactly call Pentecostalism and charismatics Protestant. Their theology is a far cry from that of the reformers, more like Arminian saved today, lost tomorrow and resaved again the following day.

If any RC who receives Christ as their Savior leaves the RCC and joins a Protestant Church then they are off of their rocker. It is not necessary for an RC who receives Christ as their Savior to leave the RCC and join a Protestant Church because even if they do not leave the RCC and do not join a Protestant Church they will still gain entrance into Heaven because they received Christ as their Savior which is the only requirement for gaining entrance into Heaven. Nothing else is required for gaining entrance into Heaven.
