DALLAS, Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. John F. Walvoord, long-time president and chancellor emeritus at Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) and one of the most prominent evangelical scholars of the 20th century, died today at the age of 92, following after a brief illness.
"This is a time of mixed emotions here for us at Dallas Seminary," said Dr. Mark Bailey, DTS president. "We rejoice -- knowing that Dr. Walvoord has gone home to heaven. But it leaves an empty spot in our hearts. His absence will surely be felt by all."
According to Bailey, Dr. Walvoord was known not only for his legendary achievements, but for his character as well. "The evangelical world owes a huge debt of gratitude to Dr. Walvoord for being a man of conviction and compassion, and a true giant in the faith," he continued.
