John UK wrote: Where on earth then did the RCC get its dogma from? ]]CCC The unity and indissolubility of marriage1644 The love of the spouses requires, of its very nature, the unity and indissolubility of the spouses' community of persons, which embraces their entire life: "so they are no longer two, but one flesh."153 They "are called to grow continually in their communion through day-to-day fidelity to their marriage promise of total mutual self-giving."154 This human communion is confirmed, purified, and completed by communion in Jesus Christ, given through the sacrament of Matrimony. It is deepened by lives of the common faith and by the Eucharist received together. 1645 "The unity of marriage, distinctly recognized by our Lord, is made clear in the equal personal dignity which must be accorded to man and wife in mutual and unreserved affection."155 Polygamy is contrary to conjugal love which is undivided and exclusive.156 153 Mt 19:6; cf. Gen 2:24. 154 FC 19. 155 GS 49 § 2. 156 Cf. FC 19. They take Jesus at his word: "so they are no longer two, but one flesh" (Matt 19:6, Gen 2:24). |

not the tony wrote: Most of us would love it if you, and all your other three letter monikers, would divorce yourself from the Sermon Audio web site, and marry a jesuit web site. Do you want to address these issues that are germane to all of us in the West (Protestant and Roman Catholic alike), or sweep them under the rug so that when our children find them, they'll have to deal with them when marriage is in an even more degraded state? God help us if you want to defer this discussion. Your call. |
