I wanted to add something else, I think most “flat earthers” have a desire for biblical truth, they don’t want to compromise, etc. This is something that should be approached in a respectful way. I must say that it’s not really on my priority list, not because I don’t think it’s important, it’s just that I have my focus on other things like The authority of scripture, Textual Criticism, Church History, Mormonism, Logic, etc. |

Watcher, you didn’t address the category errors you made, you didn’t answer the questions I asked, all you did was direct me to a 600+ page pdf. That is unreasonable. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have the time to read that book, I’m trying to read 3 books a day (I spend about 40m a book per day and I should be able to finish the books in 2weeks) and my schedule is busy. Although I’ll try to read the book next year, I also plan to listen to Rob Skibo. Although I gave a quick gander and Dr. Robert Carter (and CMI) comes under attack, I quote, “Dr. Carter’s disrespectful“phenomenolog ical language” theory for bible passage goes hand-in-hand with the fact that he seems not to truly believe God’s promise to preserve his word.” Pg. 663 That’s a cheap shot. |

Watcher said, “Oh, I stand corrected then. Nasa tells me the same thing. I am also told by Google that homosexuality is okay, God doesn't exist, and Jesus was a fool. Your point...?”You’re mixing categories. You cannot mix a science category with a moral category. Pictures of planets is a scientific category, it is a visible documentation of a planet. Google is a search engine in which you can find articles by Christians and non Christians alike discussing moral issues. But Watcher, I’m curious, since your belief is a scriptural and scientific belief, may you please provide us with sound exegesis that teaches the earth is flat; Furthermore, what scientific evidence would disprove your scientific belief? |

To my fellow IFB, let’s follow the wisdom of the moderator and don’t pay attention to Jim who is trying to start a ruckus. But to add to what I was saying earlier, we use titles to distinguish ourselves from pseudoChristian cults like Mormonism. We say we are monotheists thus we affirm the scriptures (Gen 1:1, Deut. 6:4, Isaiah 41-45, etc.) and reject Mormonism. By saying I am a Reformed Baptist, I am saying that I am a monotheistic, trinitarian, Calvinist, who holds to the innerancy and inspiration of scripture and I might take a liking to the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith and the Westminster Larger Catechism. And it’s already assumed that I’ve said, “I am a Christian.” The whole Reformed Baptist label would give you a general idea of what I believe. Thus I think the terms “Wesleyan, Lutheran, Presbyterian, IFB, etc.” are quite appropriate. |
