After the Israelites have seen the great power of God and the devastating judgment of God on Egypt, they still are filled with terror when they see the Egyptian army. They had all of the testimony that God would deliver them which Moses had just told them, but since they had no faith, they did not believe the promises. They accuse Moses, ignoring that God was involved at all, of bringing them out into the wilderness to kill them. They didn't leave it at that, they also claimed that they had also told him to leave them alone, which is very different than what is recorded in Exodus 4:31 when they bowed their heads and worshipped God. Moses' response was very different, because he believed the promises of God, he told them to wait and see the salvation of the Lord. He believed that the Egyptians would be overthrown, but then God asked Moses why is he just standing there calling upon God, he should be getting the people to move. He was to use the rod in his hand to divide the sea so that they could pass through on dry ground. Not only would they pass through on dry ground, but the Egyptians would attempt to follow them so that God would gain honor over Pharaoh and his army. Faith has real consequences in regards to how we view a situation. Do you test in the promises of God or in your own fears?
