Peter is wrapping up his letter. It has traced a pilgrim path paved with refining trials, fiery ordeals, difficult circumstances, trying relationships, and frequent opposition. Through it all, the apostle has urged us to suffer, submit, and stand firm. But only here, as his epistle ends, does Peter identify our supernatural enemy, the predator of our souls. Yet Peter's final warning is not Peter's final word! Although we need to be on the watch for our age-old enemy, we must never take our eyes off our great God and King! Peter's final commands for gospel pilgrims: i.) Pay attention! Your path leads through enemy territory (vv.8-9); ii.) Take hope! Your path leads to eternal glory! (vv.10-11)
