Christianity is a dusty religion, that is, our feet touch the earth and as we walk its path we can smell the dust. While we serve a transcendent God, whose name and glory are exalted above the heavens, true service is practical and very much a part of everyday activities. We are constantly tempted, however, to make a false distinction between what is earthly and what is spiritual and grant a higher priority to the spiritual. When we do this, we ignore the very clear commands and instructions that have to do with the 'dust' and 'sweat' of this life. The Corinthians had fallen into this error and as a result regarded sexual intimacy in marriage as earthly and opposed to a true spiritual life.
