Because of our sin — we no longer can see God in creation with clarity; the message is clear, the eyes and hearts aren’t. We need God’s Word to know Him; that is what Peter called “something more sure, the prophetic word” (2Pet. 1:19). The writer of Hebrews summarizes all of the past history as God speaking. God is the major, dominant player in man's history.
1. God has always been speaking; He is and was not silent. 2. There has never been a moment in man's history where God has not made Himself known through His revelation.
We must turn to it… 1. Because this is His Final Word (v. 2, “last days”). There is no more.
2. Because we are warned about not paying close attention to what we heard (2:1-4).
3. Because there is no other way for us to know God. The Bible is not an “option” but the sole means God uses to reveal Himself.
ERGO 1. We must listen to it; heed it. 2. We must submit to it. 3. We must believe it. 4. We must read and study it.
