Context: We notice very easily what the purpose of this parable is. Jesus is concerned about us not giving up praying and losing heart. We can lose heart, grow discouraged and give up prayer — the two go together. To stop praying will lead to losing heart. Could it not also be said that we can lose heart in prayer that we give up praying? Whatever the reason for giving up, Jesus encourages us to not give up. There are two reasons in this text. 1. Because Godly Persistence in prayer will pay off. 2. Because God will answer your godly persistent prayers. Conclusion Prayer time should be your refuge, your safe space (we talked about this before).
If you want to make prayer persistent…
1. Deliberately set aside a specific time.
2. Commit to praying every day!
3. Use the Lord’s Prayer and take each petition and expand upon it.
4. Believe God will hear you.
5. Always pray in Jesus' name (more on this next week).
