While John Calvin was an extraordinary theologian he was not without fault. His famous three uses for the Mosaic Law exhibit a flawed conclusion based on a flawed hermeneutic principle. In this message we look at the second of those three uses, the idea that the Law restrains evil in the world. Calvin's error is in confusing the concept of govermental law in general with the Mosaic Law specifically. The Mosaic Law is fulfilled and obsolete. While there is overlap between various law systems and the Mosaic system, it would be erroneous to classify the Mosaic system as still applicable for today.
