We think that I may not be the best disciplinarian, but as long as I ”love” them and cultivate a good relationship with them and give them what they want this surely will make up for any failure on my part when it comes to Ephesians 6. We tend to believe that this passage is an optional suggestion.
All the supposed “love” in the world will not help our child if we neglect the call of this passage to raise them to obey God cheerfully. In other words, what we have in this text is not a suggestion, but the essential elements to the health of our children's soul! Neglect this passage, and you will have neglected your child!
