In this sermon I will continue our exposition of Isaiah. The theme of our present section is the “burden of the Lord” against the nations that surrounded Israel and Judah at that time. But Israel and Judah will not escape the judgment of God. In fact, the Lord will judge the whole earth, with a final judgment at the end of this present age. I have developed the theme of this smaller section (chapters 24-27) with Augustine's language of two different cities, only one of which will endure and continue into a blessed eternity. In this sermon we have the song of salvation that will be sung by the redeemed “in that Day.” In other words, on the “other side” of the judgment of God, the redeemed will sing about the faithfulness of God and His glorious salvation. This chapter presents a grand picture of several aspects of this salvation, and I will develop them accordingly. They are a testimony to God, but they bring great encouragement to the people of God in every generation. Hopefully, they will also stir the heart of unbelievers as well. There is nothing more important or magnificent than the salvation of God for sinners. May the Lord bless His word
