After a while away, a trip back home can be warm and full of lifelong memories. But, not all homecomings are so. When Jesus first returned to Nazareth, the people of the town unsuccessfully attempted to throw Him off a cliff after he served as a visiting preacher. (Luke 4:16-30) Our passage today, Mark 6:1-6, shows Jesus' second return to Nazareth. Jesus comes back to give them a second chance out of His kindness and patience. (2 Peter 3:9; 1 Timothy 2:3,4) Even though his hometown gave up on Him, Jesus never gave up on Him. So, as with the entire gospel of Mark, this section teaches us the high cost of discipleship with Jesus.

1. Jesus is offensive. (Mark 6:2-3) 2. God is amazed at unbelief. (Mark 6:4-6) ….to be continued next week.
