Last week I had the privilege of participating in a Christian Leaders Grand Canyon Trip sponsored by Answers in Genesis (President, Ken Ham), The Master’s Seminary and College (President, John MacArthur) and Canyon Ministries (Tom Vail).

The trip brought together 28 people (Christian Leaders from various churches, colleges, seminaries and para-church organizations) for a 8-day trip, including 7 days of white-water rafting down approximately 190 miles of the Colorado River. Through this stretch of the Canyon, we reviewed all the evidence supporting a global flood in the context of a young-earth geological model. Each day we spent time reading the Bible (especially the first 11 chapters) and saw first-hand how the evidence in the Canyon supports what we read in God’s Word.

The leaders included a team of four men who provided Scientific, Biblical and Historical instruction related to the Canyon. The team consisted of:

Senior Scientist - Dr. Andrew Snelling – Director of Research at Answers in Genesis

Historian - Dr. Terry Mortenson – Speaker, Writer and Researcher with Answers in Genesis

Biblical Scholar – Dr. Bill Barrick – Professor of Old Testament and Director of Doctorial Studies at the Master’s Seminary

Canyon Expert – Tom Vail – Author of Grand Canyon: What is the Biblical Message? And Grand Canyon: A Different View – Tom has lead tours through the Canyon for over 38 years.

Today’s program will provide an introduction to the subject of a Global Flood and A Young Earth geological model by discussing the Message of the Grand Canyon (which is the title of one of Tom Vail’s books) in the context of my own experience in the Canyon last week. Later (in the coming weeks) I hope to have speak with the four men listed above and give them the opportunity to provide you with greater details of the evidence of a Global Flood and a Young-Earth geological model.
