Dove’s eyes have peace. Have you seen them? One came to my window seal this morning in touching distance! She or he was as peaceful as could be. I hear them cooing, and I see them playing together as love birds.
The believer looks upon Christ with the PEACE of resignation to His will; this is not bitterness, but it is trust. He knows what’s best for us, and He does good always. He can be trusted in the hardest time or the deepest “abandonment.” He can be believed when we’ve sinned in His face and in every storm. He loved us, He gave Himself for us, and He will never do anything except by love and wisdom. He has all power in His hands, so the world is not out of control. He is the First Cause of all adversity, so we are not left to Satan.
This trust in Jesus pleases God and bears the fruit of peace, submission, and love; this is a mark of faith and the inheritance of God’s elect. This is a mark of being born again, when you look to Christ in satisfaction for what He’s done for you, what He is doing for you, and what He will do one day in glory! This peace is the believer's possession, his trademark, and we are to walk in it constantly, believing God amidst life’s pain.
Let the peace of Christ rule you and govern your soul thereby.
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, for to this you were called as members of one body. And be thankful.” [Col 3:15]
