I haven't taken the time to read all of the comments so if I am repeating what someone else said forgive me.Are we talking about lyrics or music style? Of course all of the praise lyrics should be directed toward God, I don't think anyone would disagree with me. However, the style of music is not explained in scripture, as long as it doesn't provoke emotions, both immoral or depressing. Praise music, tempo and beat should be uplifting. (Praise) This can be accomplished with traditional hymns, Christian rock, rap, country, gospel Etc. Some parts of the country will use bag pipes and others will use harmonicas. We can bring praise to God pounding on pots and pans, (I witnessed this) or on a hollowed out log or a set of spoons. It can be fast and it can be slow, loud or soft. As long as it edify 's and lifts up the name of Jesus and does not take peoples eyes off of Him it is fine. It may not be the style I prefer but it is not about me is it? |
