The enemy does understand that on the mountain top they will get whipped. So the natural tendency for them is to go low. They think there is no protection, no help for the Christian to be found down there in the valley. That our God is capable of only going so far. But God has made it a point to show them that they are wrong; that He is everywhere we need Him to be. Here the word ‘valley' means a wide low place, a depression. How many times have we found ourselves in such a depressed place? We may get in a low place but the same God that was with us in the victories on the mountain tops is still the same God in the low places of life. These people assumed too much. They thought they knew the truth, how they could win but they keep trying to leave God out of the equation. They got their army waiting on us to beat us up, but we have already been alerted that the enemy is coming. And assurance from God has already been issued as well. God is still God, be still and trust Him. The enemy says God can't deliver, that those addictions are supreme, that depression is king. But God gives assurance that He is the Lord, that He will give victory. No matter what battle you are in right now turn to God, He will give us peace, even in the valley.
