"The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him." Proverbs 20:7
Solomon touches an area that is of interest to any loving parent; blessing our children. The blessing that Solomon speaks of is the example of a godly character. Do you desire that your children live godly lives? How do you suppose they will learn what a godly life looks like? While God does mold people through His word, specific applications of Biblical principles are not always obvious. What a blessing it is, that God allows us the opportunity to display to our children, the precepts of God’s word through the integrity of our lives. This particular point begs the question; how is your personal walk with the Lord? Are you striving to walk in integrity before Him? This type of question can depress us very quickly if we aren’t careful. How do we measure what it means to walk in integrity before God? Are you repenting regularly? Are you looking to His word for instruction and guidance? Are you humbly putting the needs of your family above your own? Integrity is not perfection; it’s a transparent striving for consistency in godly living. In failure, integrity will lead you to own your mistake and repent before God and man. When you succeed, integrity will lead you to humbly thank God for giving you the strength to do what you could never do on your own. May God bless us to be a blessing to our children, as we strive to walk in integrity before Him.
