We had an average day yesterday, with a good crowd in the morning and our faithful few in the evening. We are seeing a good number of the kids from Bible Club come to church. The Bible Club has been really very fruitful; I think we have seen 17 kids make professions of faith, and as I have said, many of them are coming to church on Sunday. We have planned a baptism for June 8th, and two of the kids have expressed a desire to be baptized.
We had a good number of teens, 14, come last Friday, which was a blessing. I am doing three weeks of special activities to try to build up the teen group some.
I mentioned a man named Jargalnemekh a while ago. I have felt more than once that I was wasting my time trying to help him and his wife, but I had a blessed meeting with them yesterday. Jargaa (for short) responded to an invitation last Thursday concerning being unsure of salvation, so I met with him Saturday and ended up giving him some verses to read and think about, not being able in the time we had to resolve his confusion. On Sunday evening I met again with him and his wife, and after being satisfied that they understood, I asked if they had heard the Gospel the way I explained it before and they said that it was never explained to them that way before. They kept saying that a person had to repent to be saved but could give me no other requirement for being saved. Though they could tell me that Jesus died for our sins, they had never understood the vicarious aspect of Christ's shed blood and death. They both prayed and expressed their confidence in Christ's atonement for the forgiveness of their sins. As workers in a church in a small town they had themselves several years ago led a Bible study and had a small group coming regularly. Jargaa Sunday realized immediately that they had been teaching only half of the way of salvation. I certainly look for more fruit in their lives now, and praise God for the chance to expain the way of salvation more fully to them.
I didn't write last week, and so need to mention now that our permission came through, and we are now just waiting for the new Certificate to come from the Ministry of Justice. Thank you for your prayers concerning this matter, and all the ministry here. There are other things we have seen lately that seem to be the beginning of answers to our prayers. I trust to be able to write soon of those coming to fruition.
