Wisdom Brings Life - Proverbs 4:22

Once again, Solomon highlights the benefits of pursuing wisdom. The wisdom of God is found within the Word of God. However, those who find His wisdom must diligently seek for her. For those who search for Wisdom, she becomes the means of spiritual life, and she maintains that life. Wisdom not only shows us the way to eternal life, but she brings eternal life. Jesus teaches us - It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The Words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. (John 6:63).

Furthermore, wisdom brings health to us according to Solomon. Wisdom preserves both the body and soul. Wisdom applied, preserves the body from many diseases that are socially transmitted due to intemperance and lust. Through temperance, the wise individual does not fall victim to certain types of diseases. Furthermore, the wisdom of Christ is a physician to the soul. The doctrines of Christ bring spiritual life and sustain spiritual life. Matthew Henry writes - As spiritual life was begun by the Word as the instrument of it, so by the same word it is still nourished and maintained. Therefore, true godly wisdom protects us from spiritual corruption and protect our minds from mental corruption.
