“ The Christian and his cross ” Not often does one hear such preaching on the Christian and his cross, how it is to be taken up, God’s sovereign control over our trials and the joy that accompanies them when we humbly accept them. This church’s logo holds the promise of more such cross-centered teaching, rare indeed in our times.
“ Encouraging Sermon! ” While so many mega and mini churches today invest resources and put their trust in other means of filling the pews, it is always encouraging to hear the testimony of pastors who put the preaching of the Word in first place and keep it there against circumstance and human logic. This pastor’s testimony leaves no doubt that he knows the blessing that comes when we make the sowing of the Word our priority and leave it to the Lord to “add to the church such as should be saved” (Acts2.47), something no amount of church music, dancing, spectacle and entertainment can achieve.
“ Exposing a growing cancer ” Great teaching on the increase of divination and occult practices in the world and, more importantly, in the church. Such practices are a cancer which destroys the assemblies which fail to react against it. Part of the deception is that this spiritual disease is not only relatively painless but on the contrary, as Pastor Mike points out, brings financial rewards to church leaders who promote it. We need more prophetic voices to warn the world and the churches against this evil.
“ Great Sermon! ” "Poor scriptural interpretation" was the previous comment on McIntire's teaching on the four horsemen and the four beasts passages. In fairness to the speaker it must be said that his interpretation of these passages mostly has sound scriptural basis as well as the backing of many other Bible commentators. Where one might disagree with McIntire is on his acceptance of the dispensationalist interpretation of Daniel's (ch. 9) 70th week prophecy and of a supposed pre-tribulation "taking out" of the church.
