Sermon:
Choosing to Love
Dr. Greg Mazak

“ Great Sermon! ”
You must love your wife even when you fall in love with someone else, Dr. Mazak says here. This sermon is like a glass of cold water thrown at your face, a sort of spiritual wakeup call for Christians. Listeners will find his bold frankness is rare and refreshing. What's more, his LOGIC cannot be refuted.

Sermon:
How Much is Enough?
Stephen Gambill

“ Great Sermon! ”
How much is enough, Stephen? "Just a little more!" goes the old joke. I can relate to your 'gadget envy,' even though I own a 30-GB Video iPod. I do load it with the SermonAudio MP3 sermons, but I've never thought about this from the standpoint of living a quiet, isolated life ... much food for thought here. THANKS. But from an economics standpoint, we ARE consumers, and I don't have a problem with that term, it certainly doesn't offend my humanity (unless you redefine the term to make it so). In other words, being a consumer is not wrong in and of itself, nor is the label. Sin is the only problem, as when we sin in the area of finances. There are ways to 'consume' without spending the family's hard-earned money. Making extensive use of the local public library, for instance, is just one way to do this. There are CDs, videos and books that Christians can check out from the library to their heart's content, without spending money that could be used to help the poor or spread the Gospel.

“ Great Program! ”
Parents care more about their children than any professional out there. The fact is, the professionals are failing our children, too busy debating things like what method of reading they should use in the public schools. Meanwhile, homeschool families aren't sitting down debating with staff about which teaching method to use, they are too busy educating their children. Swanson here reminds homeschool parents -- and I say even parents who are not homeschoolers -- that your child's education is their responsibility ultimately, not the professionals.

The Image of God
Dennis Prutow

comment
“ Great Sermon! ”
Even after the Fall, there is in man the image of God in non-Christians. This has implications for Christians, too. Dennis Prutow is an EXCELLENT teacher, and this sermon is proof positive of that claim. He goes deeper than simply defining the image of God, he tells you what it means for all mankind. Terrific!

Sermon:
Divine Revelation
Gregory N. Barkman
1
comment
“ Excellent! ”
The growing de-emphasis on the Word of God in our day and age is addressed in this brief, but complete, radio message. Pastor Barkman says the Bible is everything God intended to say to men. He doesn't say it's impossible for God to speak beyond His Word today, but that such occurrences are exceedingly rare! He asks: Why would God speak to a person directly when everything He has intended to tell mankind is in the Bible? There's more ... tune in and be blessed!!

Sermon:
Let Steadfastness Have its Full Effect
Rev. Charles A. Brown
1
comment
“ Good Sermon! ”
Nice reminder tucked in this sermon that when we (Christians) are glorified, "we will forever be free of trials." Pastor Brown also said if we have (repeated) trials, "maybe we haven't learned our lesson." That made me think that since all things work together for good to the one who loves the Lord, as Paul tells us in Romans, then we know that there is good that can come even when we sin (i.e. even when we haven't "learned our leasson.") Thank God that God is the AUTHOR and the FINISHER of our faith!!! The God who brings life out of death can and does bring good out of sin. The lessons God teaches us in the misery of our backward stumbling is designed to bring out that which the Lord wished to reveal in our soul.

“ Very timely! ”
This is a good response to Newsweek's article on Patrick Henry College and its student body of homeschooled students (see the Sept. 3, 2007 issue of Newsweek). It's also a good program to hear in light of the recent government report about job losses in August, which shocked economists who were predicting job increases for that month. Why are we in a good mood? Listen to this program.

My wife and I listened to this ...she said parenting is not for cowards. But we often take the easy route, getting rid of the kids because they're a homeschooling pain. THANKS Kevin for tackling this topic!

Reflections of Sixty Years
Henry Mahan
1
comment
“ Great Sermon! ”
Reflecting on his 60 years, 40 of them as a pastor, Henry Mahan notes that there has never been a time when God did not provide. Any Christian who is younger than 60 should listen to this message to benefit from the insight of an elder brother in the faith. I like how he says, for example, that as he gets older, he's more convinced regarding salvation being of the Lord, not less convinced. Thank you, brother Mahan, for sharing your insights.

Also appreciated his answer to the question, "If we as believers will have a body like Christ, glorified, then why does Jesus' body still bear the marks of the crucifixion?" WHAT AN AWESOME SAVIOR!

Sermon:
How You Can Develop a Heart for God
Dr. A. T. Stewart
1
comment
“ Interesting Sermon... ”
This message is clearly for believers in Christ, not for pagans and not for members of religious cults. The sermon is based on Jesus' on words: "where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matt. 6:21) To the modern ear, this sermon may initially sound as if this is an attempt to use the gospel for financial gain (i.e. you can 'purchase' favor with God by giving money to the church, in this case as if spiritual growth could be purchased with a check to the church or, at the very least, a shortcut to the hard work of time in the Word, Scripture reading and the sacraments. Afterall, is through Word and sacrament that God actually gives that which he promises in his gospel -- forgiveness of sins, freedom from the tyranny of sin and eternal life.) It's a topic worthy of in-depth study. A quote from another site: Matt.6:12 "seems to indicate that the way a believer spends money may be the clearest indication--perhaps like a thermometer--of the heart's spiritual condition." It is always worthwhile endeavor to examine ourselves individually to find out where we stand on the matter on this matter. That might mean putting our money where our lips say our heart is.

“ AWESOME Sermon! ”
"God has a right do with me as He pleases." And... "God has infinitely superior wisdom to mine." These are just 2 reasons why this sermon is AWESOME by Reformed Baptist Pastor Max Doner. But it's hard to hear a message like this because it goes against our natural thinking and it's even harder to hear when we've got the problem of anger and aren't ready to receive this message. Oh, God, protect us who hear this message from a hardened heart of anger and bitterness that stems from our own sin and, which is really nothing more than our anger toward You. Draw others to hear this sermon, bless them and help them to understand that God's purposes are for our good, even when we don't see it and have to believe by faith.

FATHERS, listen to this sermon and be reminded of how critically important our role is in the family. Swanson quotes a statistic that most children who are reared in the church walk away from the faith. Here's how to ensure you're child does not become part of that statistic!

Awesome program! Thanks for staying on top of this story. We can hardly imagine what it would be like to be 15 and having to deal with this nonsense. As a homeschooling family, I shudder to think of what would happen in America if children were arrested -- arrested for crying out loud!!! --simply because many Americans simply choose to educate their children at home.

Sin Finding The Sinner Out
Rev. John Greer

“ Great Sermon! ”
Rev. Greer points out that the Judgment proves that "when a man dies, his sins don't die as well." He also quotes this verse, too: "Some men's sins are clearly evident, preceding them to judgment, but those of some men follow later." (I Tim. 5:24). It is a CONVICTING sermon!!!!!! Don't play religion ... get to CHRIST at once!

Prayer Life
Rev. D. Marion Clark

“ Awesome Sermon! ”
Never heard such a wonderful sermon on prayer. I appreciate the emphasis of "Scripture-informed" prayer and how Rev. Clark discusses how the Psalms can help us structure our prayers, address God in the way He wants to be addressed and ... it's just so incredible you must hear this yourself. I've heard many pastors preach that we ought to pray, but I've never a heard a sermon so practical and helpful that puts the focus back on the Word in our prayer life. You will be blessed by this sermon!!

Sermon:
Sins Forgiven and Forgotten
Dr. Alan Cairns
1
comment
“ AWESOME Sermon! ”
AMEN! AMEN! And AMEN! Dr. Cairns, in this sermon, states: "How many times have I heard preachers define justification as 'just as if I've never sinned'? They haven't got within 100 miles of it. Let me tell you, the love of God comes to the believer in Christ and says, 'It's not that I would love you less or treat you less than as if you were Adam in his own fallen state, I will love you EVEN MORE and I will treat you EVEN BETTER because I am going to love you in Christ. The love wherewith I love Him is the love I bestow on you. "'And I'm going to deal with you not on the basis of some limited obedience of an earthly Adam, but I am going to deal with you on the basis of the absolute righteousness and merit of the last Adam, the Lord Jesus Christ. I will NEVER bring your sins against you. I will NEVER deal with you according to them. I have buried them forever in this sea of divine forgiveness and I invest you with all the fullness of my perfect son, wrought out for you in His life and death here on earth.' The record's clear. The mind of God is set upon us in unspeakable love. "There's no condemnation for those that are in Christ Jesus."
