Great Sermon! Mephibosheth, you get it!
Ninevah, Samaria, Jericho, and other abandoned cities need us. We can't simply know about the idolatry and sin only to make a sermon from it. We need to go into that town with the gospel. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation.
Sermons today are simply making believers knowledgeable about what is wrong with the world we were once a part of. Saints need to be equipped with the word; which is sharper than a two-edged sword, so that it cuts through stinkin thinkin - anti-biblical views. And always with love. That love which God hath shed in the hearts of all the redeemed, and with gentleness.
Rock the boat. Invite a lost soul to dinner. It just might hold back an impending storm.
Judaism is what the Lord was dealing with in the days of his flesh. They opposed him up to the crucifixion. They broke the Law(s) in more ways than one. Keep in mind that there are only two world institutions; Religious (God's kingdom) and Government (man thinking he is in charge). There is the kingdom of God's Son and the rest.
But let us not forget; God has laid this out. So don't fret. And all men had a hand in the crucifixion also. It was because of us and for us.
Frank[/AUTHOR][/QUOTE]"Brother, brother," Christians should not under any circumstances be identified as "white" or "black." We should not continue subjecting ourselves to cultural,or ethnic descriptions. In the Body of Christ, there is no such thing. We are of a different sphere, a different species, a spiritual nation where there is no distinction; except on Sundays (sarcasm). Our differences should be complimentary. Churches are suffering because of improperly identifying with a Body of like-minded people. I've been thinking that pastors and teachers should move around to fill up that which is lacking in Samaria and Jericho. But many of the successful ones build bigger barns away from the publicans and whores and then preach about the sins and rampant crimes committed. They preach about what the government is doing wrong. Are we supposed to depend upon the government and king Saul? Crisis arise because wells are dried up. Our brethren need to be refreshed and supported. Christians who have been under sound doctrinal teaching should visit and join in other Bible studies that are stuck in tradition and lack proper study skills. If an ant is able to teach a sluggard, then ruined communities should teach the Church something. Passerby is on to something.
