s c wrote: "Minorities" may be having more abortions but aren't they also having more babies? Is it a fair comparison if the most abortions are by "minorities" when they are also the ones who have more pregnancies? ...not so sure that this is primarily an inner city problem. There could be more fairer skinned women who have abortions who get pregnant but because there aren't as many of them getting pregnant, then it would seem that there is a greater percentage of "minority" abortions. One has to factor in the total number of births and do the percentages that way. From the article:"Total Black Pregnancies: 56,165 Total Viable Black Pregnancies: 53,115 Black Abortions as a Percentage of Total Black Pregnancies: 51.6% Black Abortions as a Percentage of Total Viable Black Pregnancies: 54.6% In other words, for every 1 Black baby born, 1.2 Black babies are aborted in New York City." |

Great points US. I agree that there are two sides to this coin. I'm not on FB because I fear it would be a drain on my time (as though SA is not ). But it would be nice to keep up with family and friends who live out of state. Penny's comment convicted me that I need to get out and visit people a bit more (Thank you, Penny). I tend to be reclusive. But, I'm not getting out today . It's too nasty. It took me four hours to get home from work yesterday. That's enough for me. I hope you stay warm and safe. |

John UK wrote: One of the things the devil has done, besides replacing God's hymnbook with a man made selection of songs... Bro. St. John UK,There is (as I'm sure you know) more to corporate worship than just singing. There is preaching, praying, reading of the Word, etc. There are examples of preaching in the Word, yet we don't limit preaching to Peter's sermon at Pentecost or Paul's message on Mars hill. We don't limit the content of our prayers to those found in the Bible. We don't hold that responsive reading is only valid for those worshipers in Deut. 27. No, though we hold to the regulatory principle, we find freedom within that principle. The preacher is allowed, even charged, to apply himself to the proclamation of God's truth and to do so with a passion. How may he do that if the words are not his own? How may we pray - and pray with passion - if we are restricted in our expression. Why must we restrict ourselves to the Psalms - and they are wonderful - when we now have a more full revelation of truth on which to draw? Disclaimer: I am not talking about preaching, praying, singing, etc. that clearly goes against God's word. |

Wayfarer Pilgrim (war refugee),Thanks for the information. I was completely unaware of Southwest enrolling a Muslim. SMH. Space, funds, and resources are limited (ok, I know they're not limited to God), so why do we not use discretion on how we use them? I was aware of the lack of funds for missionaries and that many are being asked to take early retirement. That is frustrating. As I understand it, it is a problem that has been building up for quite some time and has only recently come to a head. May God cause us to repent as a denomination for our excesses while we let missions slowly wither. Have mercy, dear LORD. |

John UK wrote: Greetings Carol. Yes indeed, I belong to a pioneering work, starting from scratch. And it is a great comfort to know that if Jesus Christ be with us, nothing shall be impossible. Many times, at the Breaking of Bread, we can sense the nearness of our beloved Saviour, giving us encouragement. And nothing is more impossible than the saving of sinful men and women. Thank God that He does the impossible! May He add to your congregation those who should be saved. May He grow you deep and wide in His Word and through the Holy Spirit. May He protect you from those who would subvert the proclamation of the gospel. |

From the article wrote: “I may get nothing out of this," she told the Tribune. “This is about standing up for my colleagues. If I can be thrown under the statement of faith bus, so can they. Everyone is cast under a cloud of suspicion. If they say the wrong thing, how does one know?” Hmmm. I just read Wheaton's statement of faith, and I saw a lot of good stuff, but no mention of the exclusivity of Christ. (If I overlooked it, someone please correct me.) May this remind me that when I read a statement of faith to pay attention not only to what is said, but what is not said.As for this professor, I googled her name and found her twitter page. It didn't take much reading to figure out her liberal tendencies. How she ever got tenured is beyond me. Good grief. Wayfarer Pilgrim, what are you referring to? This is the first I've heard about something like that. As a Southern Baptist, I am very concerned. Do you have any more information? |
