In many modern churches, there is far too much emphasis of putting on a happy face, rather than putting on the full armor of YaHVaH, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, putting on kindness, mercy and justice.

1 Thessalonians_5:6 so then, let us not sleep as the others do, but let us remain on the alert and sober-minded.

:8 But since we are of the day, let us be sober-minded—putting on the breastplate of faithfulness and love, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

Comments: In a few Assembies you walk in the door, and it is as if you are supposed to be walking on air, ten feet off the ground. Rah, rah, rah, shout, stomp, shout.

Yes! We are told to smile. And maybe it’s not a bad thing, as opposed to always looking angry (for example). They say, “Smile, to show you are saved!”

Question: Where is THAT in Scripture where the apostles even lectured people who did not smile from ear to ear, and then tell them they had spiritual problems in their life?

While that MAY be true, it has little to do with our facial expression, and everything to do with our actions and behavior in response to our Savior’s kindness and mercy and love towards those whom He knows.

Ask the true believers in afflicted, war-torn countries if wearing a big smile for the hour of prayer affected them the rest of their life. Let His inward joy dwell in you.
