Some of Jesus' closest disciples discovered that his burial tomb was empty. In addition, his grave cloth wrappings were empty - the body was gone. Yet it was his personal resurrection appearance to them that convinced them that he was alive. The import of the angel's question to the women was clear, "Why do you seek the living among the dead?" - Jesus was alive! He had risen from the dead "according to the Scriptures, " that is, the Old Testament scriptures such as Isa. 53:10-13 and Psalm 16:8-11. When we look at the content of the apostles' sermons in the Book of Acts, we see that the preaching of the resurrection of Christ was the central and unique truth and fundamental historical fact that verifies the truthfulness of Christianity. In fact, anyone who denies Christ's resurrection can be saved. But those who do believe receive life, LIFE, eternal life!
