that helps us stop and listen for that voice. Not just listen for the voice of the Christ, but listen to God's voice as He gives us the answer for that. We've been looking at not how are we going to reach the world, How, not just how, are we going to find those who are crying and desperately in need of the truth of the gospel? How to save our world? We've not been looking at that. We've been looking at who, who can do that? And who is the vessel and who is the man that God uses to accomplish that task? And so we've been trying to look at those ingredients. There's a lot of ingredients that go into a wonderful recipe. And it's very easy to desire a result without a recipe and just want to get to the end of the thing. Okay, we hear their cry. Let's just take care of it. There's a recipe for that. There's ingredients for that. And this missions conference is one of those ingredients. And we saw this week already that the man that saves much people alive is a man like the Lord Jesus Christ. He is an individual of compassion. This morning we saw that he needs to be a man of character. Individuals with character that God can use from a purity of life, from the integrity of keeping commitments, honest, trustworthy, and asking God to help us to be that trustworthy one. And tonight, another ingredient. It's so wonderful to be with precious, Children of God, such as you, and it's just a joy to be with you, and let's join our hearts in looking at the scriptures. Genesis 41, please. And I think I want you to turn to Daniel 4 as well, because I just, man, I tell you, I just can't get my mind off these two guys that reach their whole world. And they're just men, you understand? They're not supermen. They're men of like passions as you, and weaknesses as you, and they're flesh and blood like you and me. But a God behind them. The true and the living God. Genesis 41 verse 38. And Pharaoh said unto his servants, can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is? Daniel chapter four, another heathen king, that does not know the God of heaven and earth, the God of the Bible, says this. Daniel chapter four and verse eight, but at the last Daniel came in before me whose name was Belteshazzar according to the name of my God and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods. Verse 9, O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee. Verse 18, this dream I, King Nebuchadnezzar, have seen, now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof, for as much as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able Can't find anybody else. No one else is qualified. No one else has the answer. No one else can meet the need. But thou art able, for the Spirit of the holy gods is in thee. He said in chapter five, Daniel five, verse 11, there is a man in thy kingdom in whom is the spirit of the holy gods. Verse 14, I have even heard of thee that the spirit of the gods is in thee and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee. Now they may have said all that wrong, grammatically, but what they were saying, there is a spirit in you that has to come from out of this world. And when Pharaoh said to all of his servants, can we find such a one as this in whom the spirit of God is? Let's pray, would you join me? Father, we know all the doctrine, but we somehow need to get in touch with a person that would fill and anoint our lives so that It would not just be a principle of theology, but that this world would see evidently that there is a spirit in us that is out of this world, and it's the Holy Spirit. God, we know that the cry of this world cannot be met in our power. It is not by might, nor by power, but by thy Spirit, saith the Lord. And we know tonight that you didn't just put the Spirit of God in us to seal us into the day of redemption. We thank you for that. But you have put the Spirit of God in us that we may accomplish the will of Jesus Christ in this world with much power. And forgive us, O God, of being so powerless and so spiritless that we can't get the job done. And help us tonight. Lord, we don't just need missionaries full of the Holy Ghost. We don't just need preachers full of the Holy Ghost and pastors. We need wives and teenagers and kids, Lord, and old people alike that would yield themselves to the Spirit of God that you might make us instruments unto righteousness and servants unto holiness. Help us, oh God, we pray. And breathe upon us and give us that thirst. Give us that thirst and that missing ingredient. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen. Genesis 39, Acts 7. Genesis 39 and Acts 7. The Bible says in Genesis 39 and verse 2, and the Lord was with Joseph. And he was a prosperous man who was in the house of his master the Egyptian, now watch it, and his master saw that the Lord was with him. Something evident that made such an impression upon a lost man that the Lord God is with this man, evident, no mistaking that. Well, we see Joseph in the house, yeah, but I see somebody else with him. We hear Joseph talking the house, yeah, but I hear somebody else talking with him. We know Joseph's presence in the house, yeah, but when you get around that guy, somebody else's presence is there. He's never alone, somebody is always with him. There is another presence with him, and it's the Lord. Can't explain all that, maybe, Potiphar, in his heart. Verse 21, he goes to the prison. The Bible said in verse 20, and Joseph's master took him and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound. And he was there in the prison, but, verse 21, the Lord was with Joseph. and showed him mercy and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison, and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it. The keeper of the prison looked not to anything that was under his hand, because the Lord was with him. And that which he did, the Lord made it to prosper." Everybody knew that God was with Joseph. It was not a theological statement. It was an understanding that this man has the presence of God with him. I don't know, maybe it's Joseph. Do you feel alone in prison? No, the Lord's with me. How do you know? Could we say in a Baptist church without getting anybody upset, man, he could maybe say, well, I feel him here with me. Is that all right? How can something as big as God move in your heart and you can't feel him? How can the presence of God be with you and it not make a difference in your walk and in your understanding? A preacher, I know the Bible and I've been saved and he that hath not the Spirit of Christ is none of his and I know that my body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. I didn't say the Lord in you, I said the Lord with you. You think there might be a difference there? Oh, for some believers there's not because the Holy Spirit's not even a person, he's a doctrine. They don't even know he's a person. It's just an idea. It's not an idea. It's the person of the Holy Ghost with us. I even find over there in Paul's writings to the Corinthians and to the Philippians at least two times, he said if this is true and this is true and this is true and this is true in your life, the God of love and peace will be with you. Well, what if those things aren't true? He didn't say God wouldn't be in you, but do you understand the difference between being in you and going along with you? Being with what you're doing? I know as a believer that the Spirit of God is in me, showing me the day of redemption, but when I go to the mission field, or when I go next door, or when I get up to sing, or when I get up to preach, I just don't want it to be a fact that He's down in there. I want Him to be with me. with what I'm doing, with what I'm singing, with what I'm preaching, with what I'm standing and serving and accomplishing my life. I'm wanting to be with that. And I'm afraid that a lot of times we live our Christian life by ourselves instead of with Him. Joseph, God's with him. What does it mean for God to be with you? Acts chapter seven, I ask you to turn there. This is about Joseph again, verse nine. And the patriarchs moved within the soul of Joseph into Egypt. What does it say? But God was with him. with him. Wonder what that could mean. Go to Acts chapter 10. Acts chapter 10 about the Lord Jesus Christ whom Joseph is such aptly a type. Acts chapter 10, the Bible tells me in verse 38, look at it now, put it together. The Bible says how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth, look at it, with the Holy Ghost and with power who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil for God was, what? You see the context? For God to be with him means that the Spirit of God was working upon him and through him and with him. God, deliver us from plastic Christianity. You can get two people singing the same song Both saved and one of them God's with and the other one God's not in 10 miles. You say, I don't know what you're talking about. I know. It's not the words. It's the Spirit of God with the words. You can have a man dressed in the same dress, with the same outline, and he says everything just perfect, and it's all biblical, and it's all doctrinal, and it's all true, but God's not there. Not saying he's not saved. And then sometimes, And it's not the talent, and it's not the ability. It's just that God's breath is there, and His Spirit's there, and there is a difference. And the singing's different, and the witness is different, and the missionary work is different when God is with it. And even the lost people say, that's God. The lost people, that's God. God's with him of a truth. When I study my Bible, I read in 1 Samuel 3 that down there with that little young man Samuel, the Bible said God was with him. God's talking to him and he's talking to God and the Spirit of God uses that prophet to save that nation. Why did Samuel make such a difference? Because he had such a yielded humble heart and open heart to God that the Lord filled his life and God was with him. Eli knew all the verses. You can know all the Romans wrote in the world, and that doesn't mean the power and presence of God is with your witness. The Bible says about David two times, 1 Samuel 18, the Lord was with him. He was anointed and the Bible says the Spirit of God was on him that day and forward. And when you looked at David, God, he's with him. The Bible said in 2 Kings 18 about Hezekiah that brought a revival to a sinful nation, quote, unquote, the Lord was with him. Phinehas, the son of Elias, the son of Aaron, that spared the nation, the judgment of God. I mean, that wickedness was going on and God got on that boy and he took that spear and went in there and God just held back. You know what the Bible said about Phinehas? The Lord was with him. Go to Matthew 28. What's that got to do with missions? Everything. Everything. Matthew 28, the Great Commission. The Bible tells us, you know the verses. You know the verses. The Bible said in verse 18, Jesus came and speaking to them saying, all what? All power is given unto me in heaven and earth. Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I've commanded you. And lo, I am what? There's the key. I'm with you. All the way, even under the end of the world. I'm with you all the way as you're doing this work, because it's not your power, it's my power. It's not your presence, it's my presence. It's not your program, it's my program. It's not your words, it's my words. And I'm gonna be with you, because if I'm not with you, everything you do is gonna be a big blank. It's gonna be hollow, even if you're right about it. You're just gonna be screeching your fingernails on the chalkboard. You're saved, the Holy Ghost is in you. That doesn't mean you're full. They look at Joseph and there's a man in whom the Spirit of God is and the fullness of God is there and God's using that young man. And he makes a difference. Well, preacher, what would make the difference in love? How does that work? I mean, I'm saved. Well, God does want to be with you, not just in you. Now, what does this verse mean if what I'm teaching is wrong? I'll sit down and let you tell me. What does James 4, 7 say? It says, for the Christians, the believers, it says, draw nigh to God. And what? Well, if he's already there, what does that mean? I mean, if he's always there the same... Jesus said, I'll never leave you nor forsake you. I understand that. The Holy Ghost is in me permanently. But what does it mean when the Bible declares to me to draw nigh to God and he'll draw nigh to me? That means sometimes he's not very close to me. That means sometimes I'm not very close to him. And I think sometimes we live our lives just presupposing That we're close to Him. And that His presence is there. Instead of making the effort in our heart and soul to draw nigh to God. and say, Lord, I need you with me. I need you with me. I know you're in me, but I need you with me. You know, that's important for this church this week, because what we ask you to do and what your pastors ask you to do is for you to get alone with God and draw an eye to God and get God with you on what you're supposed to do as a church as far as your faith promise. You need the spirit of God to lead and guide you about what you're to do with your faith promise. You've got to get that from God! Most people, it's just, well, what did we do last year? Okay, put it up five. A little quiet there. Or, good night, our bills are up. Maybe if we take it down five, it just won't be that bad for the church, you know? What do you think, honey? Well, what do you think? I don't know. Instead of, Lord, I want you to be in this. I want you to be with me. I want you to be with me when I put this on this card. I want you to be with this commitment. I need the Spirit of God to lead and guide me into all truth, and I need to be understanding what the will of the Lord is. What do you want from me this year? Spirit of, listen, if the Spirit of God is to lead His children, As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they're the sons of God. But unless you draw an eye, it's like this, we got this one, God. We got this one. We can figure this one out. Same way for the missionaries. Missionary, they don't need you there and your family. They need God there. They need God there. So we need to draw nigh to God and say, Lord. You know what he said in Chronicles? He said, I'll be with you if you'll be with me. If you're with me, I'm with you. But we'll never be that one that the world will look at and say, there's one in whom the Spirit of God is if we don't quit sinning against the Holy Ghost. I tell you what, it's so, it's fascinating to me that in Bible-believing churches that there seems to be such an awkwardness about the Holy Ghost. And that book is filled with admonitions that say, quench not the Spirit. Most people wouldn't know to do that because they wouldn't know He was working anyway. Resist, don't resist the Spirit of God. Don't lie to the Spirit of God. Don't grieve the Spirit of God. And to be filled with His Spirit and to be that one that God can use to save a world, we just need to just empty out. You know, you can't get full of God if you're full of everything else. Just full of everything. Full of sports and full of the world. Full of family, fun, friends. Amen. Computers and games and just full of everything. And there's just no room there for God to be with us. If we've ever needed a revival, I'm drawing nigh to God and saying, Lord, we need you with us. We've got to take a big step. I mean, we heard the song. We need to hear their cry. Well, it's not going to matter if I don't empty myself of all of my selfishness and all of my pride and all of my sin and all of my heart and let God fill my life. If I keep filling my life with all these other toys, there's no room for him to be in total, complete control and fullness in my life. And there is nothing wrong with God. There is nothing wrong with the power of God. There is nothing wrong with the Word of God. But oh, there is something wrong trying to find someone in whom the Spirit of God is and that He is with, God is with them in every task. It's almost we've learned how to do it without him. Don't get very far. Go to 1 Corinthians. I'll just read some verses and I'll hush. Amen. I got all these kind of points here. I'll just move them off and go read the Bible a little bit and we'll go home. Preacher, we want to reach the world. We'll get filled with the Spirit of God. You'll know what to give. You'll know where to go. You'll know what to say, because He'll be doing it. I think sometimes we misquote that verse when Paul says, you know, he says, I'm crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live. But then he says, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. Somebody else is living my life. Somebody else is doing it, I'm not doing it. 1 Corinthians chapter 2. Watch this missionary that reached a world like Joseph, like Daniel. 1 Corinthians 2 verse 1. Thy brethren, when I came to you, came not with a wonderful presentation and good clothes and a good church rec... No, I'm sorry, that's... And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with the oratory of Thy brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ and Him crucified. And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling, and my speech And my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom. It was nothing you'd want to put on the internet. It's not something that everybody won't want to download and listen to. He wouldn't be your favorite preacher. Look at that guy up there shaking in his boots. Does he not know how to talk? What's wrong with him? Not very impressive. I thought we were going to be impressed tonight with the missionary that reaches the whole world. Not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God." It's the power of God through that man preaching. Could I say this? When he got up to preach, you couldn't go away but saying, God's with him. God is with him. And that's what I need. First Thessalonians chapter one, see if that was a rare event in his life. First Thessalonians chapter one. Verse five. First Thessalonians 1.5, for our gospel came to you from our mission board and the hundred churches that, oh I'm sorry. I'm not making fun of that. I'm just saying we have our little boxes that we create and that does not mean God's in them. I'm for having a good education. I preached that this morning. I preached the devil out of that this morning. I'm for looking sharp. I'm for doing whatever you need to do to get to the mission field. But what I'm telling you, the gospel was not some little pattern or program. He said, our gospel came not unto you in word only. He said, I didn't just come to you with the truth of the King James Bible. Can we say that? It wasn't just the letters of the Bible that I came to you with. I didn't come to you in Word only. Now you can't come without the Word, but you better have more than the Word when you come. The gable into your soul better be loaded with something more than some Scripture. I came not unto you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Ghost. And in much assurance, as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake, you stepped back and you said, God is with him. Oh, what does Zambia need? What does South Africa need? What does Cambodia need? What does the world need? What does your home need? What does this city need? It needs to see somebody that God is with. And only the Spirit of Almighty God can bring that out. You can't manufacture it and you can't learn it in school. I can teach somebody the Bible, but I can't teach them to yield themselves to the Holy Ghost. Second Timothy. Two verses, I'm finished. "'Cause the truth is, my dear brethren, Until we are more hungry and thirsty for the touch of God in our lives than we are filling our bellies or enjoying our fellowship or living our lives, nobody's gonna know God's with you and nobody's gonna know God's with me. Because Jesus said, blessed are they that hunger and thirst. righteousness for they shall be filled." You don't get full until you're hungry, until you're thirsty. And God said, I will pour water on him that's thirsty. I'll just pour it on him. We want to hear the cries. How bad do you want God? You see, I'm just telling you Joseph is sitting in prison and he's all right and he's walking around talking to other people about, hey, why are you so sad? He's a burden for them, you know why? He's full of God. You don't manufacture that. God is with him. And God says, won't you go over and talk to those boys? All right. God tugs at his heart, you see. And God's living his life. He's full of God. And even Pharaoh knows it. And he just met him. And as soon as he meets him, God's with that boy. 2 Timothy 3.5, here's where we are in the last days, the perilous times, you know, dispensation that we know where we live, right? Well, here's one of those characteristics. It's not just a characteristic of sodomy of the last days in the perilous times. Another characteristic of the last days in perilous times is people are gonna have a form of godliness, verse five, but deny the power thereof. They look all right, but there's no power there. There may even be thunder, but there's no rain. Did you hear what I said? I'm finished with one more verse. And I want to find it in 2 Corinthians 12. That's where I want to find it. This missionary here, the Apostle Paul that we try to learn from and follow to take the gospel to the world of those that are hungry and crying and needing the truth. including the little orphans, I'll never forget, man, in the village there in Romania and a woman came up to me, I kid you not, and I'm wired a little different, and this woman came up to me and she had two kids about this high, two boys, and she looked me square in the face and she said this, Brother Joe, she said, would you please take these kids home with you? He said, Mother, I'm tired of them. I don't want them anymore, take them. And you know, maybe you, you'd start crying. You look at the kids, oh man, their mom, and she said it right in front of them. It'd be great if an American just take these kids and get them out of my hair. And I tell you in my heart, you know what I did? Instead of saying, oh, poor little kid, you know what I did? I got mad. I started preaching to that woman. And I said, lady, don't you have any love for these kids that God gave you? And then I started preaching to her the gospel. We got a world full of people that need God, but I'm telling you, it's not the only way the answer is going to be found. It's through God being with us and filling our lives. And that doesn't just come just because. Second Corinthians. Watch this. Watch this. Oh, Lord, I don't... 2 Corinthians 12, 9. 2 Corinthians 12, 9. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my affirmatives that the power of Christ may rest upon me. The man who wrote half the New Testament told you, God, whatever needs to come in my life to get me to the place that your power rests upon me, do it. Because I can't reach the world, and I can't reach the Philippians, and I can't reach the Corinthians, and I can't reach the Thessalonians, and I can't reach the rest of the world unless your power is resting on me. And he's the same guy that wrote that the Spirit's in all of us that are redeemed but the Spirit being in me and the power of God resting upon me as I serve him is a totally different thing and I'm telling you that man was so hungry for that because he wanted God to be with him that the world may see that God and not just another plastic religion I want to give in the Spirit of God. I want to sing with the Spirit of God. I want to preach with the Spirit of God. I want to be a missionary with the Spirit of God. I want a congregational scene with the Spirit of God. I want our mission program with the Spirit of God. I want those kids and those babies to know about the Spirit of God, so they say, God is here. That's the man God uses to save much people alive. Let's bow our heads for prayer. Father, fill our hearts. Speak to our hearts through your Spirit. Help us to empty ourselves of our pride, our selfishness, our sin, whatever is coming between us, Lord. Help us to draw an eye to you that you might be with us that the Spirit of Christ may rest upon us so that we could show the pharaohs of this world who God is and the orphans of this world, the Savior that's a real Savior, a real person that can meet the needs of their lives. Bless we pray in Jesus' name. Altar's open tonight. I want to put an appeal out tonight. If you're here and you don't know Jesus Christ as your Savior, you don't know God, but you want to, I got some folks up here with a Bible that would just gladly take you aside, not going to do anything spooky, just going to open up a Bible
