Hello and welcome to the program. We're glad you could be with us today. We're going to be looking at Bible prophecy. We're going to look at headline news and then we're going to look at the Bible and see the amazing things that are happening today. Be sure and have your Bible ready. In 2 Peter chapter 1, verse number 19, we read, we have also a more sure word of prophecy. We're unto ye do well that ye take heed as unto a light that shineth in a dark place until the day dawn and the day star arise in your hearts. We do well if we take heed as unto a light that shineth in a dark place. There are about 2,000 prophecies in the Bible that have been fulfilled in detail. Now think about 2,000. How many eggs do you have in your fridge right now? You have a dozen eggs? Think of what it would be like if you had 2,000 eggs in your fridge. I don't know if your fridge would even hold them. Now, there have been 2,000 prophecies that have been fulfilled in detail. Two-thirds of the Word of God are prophetic, either in type, symbol, or direct statement. Altogether, there are about 2,500 prophecies recorded in the Bible. On a clear night, we can see about 2,500 stars. That's a lot of stars. In 2 Peter 1 21 we read, for the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man, but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. Now the phrase the will of man appears only two times in the Word of God. One is concerning salvation where we read in John 1 12 and 13, but as many as received him To them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believed on his name, which were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. One has to do with salvation. The other one has to do with prophecy. Second Peter 121, for the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man, but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. It is important to understand that there are three types of prophecy. We have past, which is fulfilled prophecy. We have present, which is fulfilling right now, before our eyes prophecy. And we have future, which is unfulfilled as yet. Number one, obviously it is made known prior to it being fulfilled. Number two, they are beyond all human foresight. Number three, they are given in detail 4. Enough time elapses to exclude anyone from making it happen. 5. There is evidence of the fulfillment of the prophecy. For example, there is no fact in history more clearly established than the fact of the first coming of Christ. In the Old Testament, there are 25 specific prophecies made by the prophets in the Old Testament concerning the betrayal, the trial, the death, and the burial of Jesus. These were prophesied by different prophets during a period of 1600 years. They were all literally fulfilled in 24 hours in one person. Now, according to the scientific law of compound probabilities, there was one chance in 33,554,432 that these 25 predictions would be fulfilled as prophesied. Now, there was 109 predictions literally fulfilled when Christ was on earth. If we apply the law of compound probabilities to this, there was one chance in billions and billions that it would be fulfilled in one person, but it was. The Bible consists of 66 separate books, 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New. These books were written by about 40 different authors. It was written by kings such as David and Solomon, by statesmen like Daniel and Nehemiah, by priests like Ezra, by men who were learned in the wisdom of Egypt like Moses, by men who were learned in the Jewish law such as Paul the Apostle. There was a herdman named Amos, a tax collector named Matthew, fishermen such as Peter, James, and John, who were unlearned and ignorant men, and there were others such as Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Zechariah. Concerning the return of Christ, Jesus said in Matthew 16, the Son of Man shall come. He said in Matthew 25 and 31, the Son of Man shall come. He said in John 14 verses 2 and 3, I will come again. Concerning his first coming to this world, the Bible says that he would be born of a virgin, Isaiah 7.14, and he was. It was prophesied his birthplace would be in Bethlehem, Micah 5.2, and it was. It talks about his suffering, Isaiah 53. Says he would be rejected by his own people, Psalm 69.8 and Psalm 78.2. Says he would speak in peril, Psalm 78.2, and he did. Said he would be crucified, Isaiah 53 and 5, said not a bone of his body would be broken, and it wasn't. Daniel 9, 27 talks about his resurrection, and it happened. And then there's prophecies concerning the nation of Israel. For instance, Ezekiel 37 says that Israel, after 2,000 years, would be regathered as a nation. It happened in 1948. The Bible also says the nations of the world would be against Israel, Isaiah 13, Isaiah 66 and 18, Zechariah verses 1 through 4 in chapter 12, and chapter 14 verse 2. In Matthew 24, the disciples asked Jesus what it would be like when he came back again, and there's a list of things in Matthew 24 that are happening on the news right now. In 1st Chronicles 12 verse 32 we read in the children of Ishaqar which were men that had understanding of the times to know what Israel ought to do. That's what we need today. We need understanding of the times to know what we ought to be doing, and Paul the Apostle has given us all kinds of instructions under the inspiration of God, and we'll be looking at them. Be sure and be with us.
