All right, thank you, Brother Jamie. Well, it's good to be back in the service today. Amen. I appreciate the message this morning, Brother Josh. Some meat there. Amen. Amen. Thank God for young men today. It's God's calling and they're studying God's Word and blinding themselves. Sure need in the days we're living in for some younger ones to come along and take up the mantle, because the older ones are dying off. I was thinking as those young folk were singing. You young folk probably don't realize it to this day, but if the Lord don't come, he allows you to mature. realize that these days were more precious than silver and gold. What you're experiencing here this day, this week, and those that have labored and give their time, that you may have this opportunity. What a blessing it is. All right, we're going to change channels. You know, most of us, they'd never do that. But y'all done said more about the church. I told Brother Shepard, y'all done said more about the church than I know. So I have to go some other way. Amen. John chapter 19. John chapter number 19. Very familiar verse. Verse number 30. If you'd like to stand and read the verse of Scripture. It says, When Jesus, therefore, had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished. And he bowed his head, and he gave up the ghost. Dear Father, Blessed to be able to be in the service. Thank you for Brother Josh and the message and all the messages that's been preached. Thank you for it. Thank you for the churches that have went together and the Lord allowed this to be this week. Thank you for the count being available for them. And dear God, if there's somebody here bothered, Lord, about their souls. Or it could be, Lord, they're in a financial strait or in a valley this morning that they can't see the way out. But, dear God, I pray they'd look to You. And, Lord, help us all to realize, dear God, down in the valley we're being purified. And God, I thank you today for that precious blood that we shed on Calvary. Speak to hearts, and Lord, we give you the credit, the honor, and the glory. Because in Jesus' name, we do ask it. Amen. Now, here in verse number 30, you may be seated. He said, It is finished. Now, in the fifth, or the verse 28, you'll notice in the fifth saying, After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, I thirst. He calls attention to the person, I, I thirst. Then in verse number 30, he calls attention to the work. It is finished. We notice now that we have the person and the work of Calvary. When he said that I thirst, this was more than a physical thirst. This was scripture. being fulfilled. Because he says in verse number 24, And they said therefore among themselves, Let us not rent it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my arraignment among them, and for my vesture did they cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did. Verse number 36, for these things were done that the Scripture should be fulfilled. A bone of him shall not be broken. Verse number 37, and again another Scripture said, they shall look on him whom they have pierced. And I believe it's in Psalm 69 or 67, somewhere there. Verse number 21 speaks about that he said that he would thirst. He would thirst. The scripture was being fulfilled, knowing that all things were now accomplished. He'd taken the vinegar. Now back in Matthew chapter 27, verse number 34, he refused the vinegar. He would not take it when they offered it to him. because he had not suffered for the sins there on Calvary. He would not accept anything that would deaden the pain. But here it was finished, and now he'd taken the vinegar, he'd taken it, and so all that the law required now had been done. Here the battle had been won for the souls of the lost. The water of life had drawn himself dry in the fires of hell, And now He'd given His all. Death was the price of victory. Now, before the seventh saying here, He cried with a loud voice, It is finished. It is complete. I believe it's in the book of Hebrews, chapter number 10, and verse number Well, I'll start at verse number 9. Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he might establish the second. By the witch will we're sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. No more taking an animal sacrifice to the altar. We've got a sacrifice that is eternal, once and for all. And every priest standing daily, ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which could never take away sins. Somebody's already mentioned, the only thing it would do is roll it forward for another year. But that priest had to go in to the Holy of Holies and repeat. that sacrifice every year. But thank God we got a high priest that went in, and thank God he put the sacrifice there, his precious blood, and that settled it. I mean, the debt's paid now. It's now paid in full this morning. Amen. He said also, but this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God. We know, most of you know, the earthy tabernacle had no chair in it, but that heavenly tabernacle, thank God it got a chair. He sat down because the work is finished. It's done. And he says, from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made a footstool. For by one offering He hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Thank God it's complete. What He done on Calvary, it's complete. Everything's been done that could be done. Nothing else can be done that has not been done. It is complete. Thank God it is finished, what He done. The blood was shed, and that satisfied a holy God. When He raised Him from the tomb, God said that that's My Son. I'm declaring that He is My Son, and I am completely satisfied, so it is done. I think about in Revelation, I believe, chapter number 5, in verse number 9, He said, And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book. Now there's a title, Deed to the Earth. The only one able to take that book, break the seals on it here. And he says, Thou art worthy to take the book. and something else worthy of, and to open the seals thereof. Now the reason he can do that, that little word for gives you the reason, he says, for thou was slain and hath redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindring come people and nation. Verse number 11 of chapter 4 says, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power. Why? For Thou has created all things. In verse number 11 here, He is worthy because He has created all things. And in verse number 9 of chapter 5, He's worthy because He was slain. Thank God for that redemption that was affixed for us yonder on Calvary, that has redeemed us to God by Thy blood out of every kindring, tongue, people, and nation. You know, it's the shed blood. Thank God, I was an old dog, I was an old heathen, I was outside of the covenant. There was no hope for this old dog, this old Gentile, but I've come across a but now. But now in the Bible, but now, thank God for that but now in the Bible, but now in Christ Jesus, ye who sometime were afar off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. Amen. Amen. That's what finished it. That work there on Calvary. He didn't say join the church. You know, that's what a lot of them want. To get them into the church. He didn't say join the lodges or any organizations. No works. It's already done. It's finished. It's finished. That word means to bring to a total end. Finished. It's the finishing of a life's work. It's the finishing of a journey. It's achieving of a goal. It's the fulfillment of a divine purpose. It's paid in full. Why did Jesus come into the world? What was His goal? Back yonder when He was just a lad, He said, I must be about my Father's business. But yonder on Calvary, He cried out, It is finished. That was a great cry. Finished. You know, that was a finishing of God's business. That's what God sent him into this world to do. He said, I have glorified thee on the earth. I have finished the work that Thou gavest me to do. I have glorified Thee on the earth. Speaking of Calvary, already passed there. Thanks be to God. You know, it's final, total completion. Thank God. You know, Heaven deposited the greatest treasure in heaven upon this earth. But when he cried out, It's finished, and then he commended his spirit back into the hands of God, that treasure was redeposited back in heaven in the hands of God. Thank God I can read. It is finished. It is finished. Thank God. You know, it's by grace and through faith. It's a gift of God, not of worthless. Any man should boast. You know, when I got saved, I can only tell you what happened to me. I had a battle. I had a battle. I just didn't walk in and there was a battle went on in my life. I mean, there was a drawing toward God and there was a draw not to go toward God. There was a draw to surrender or commit and there was a draw not to commit unto God. And I got to the place, I was scared to lay down at night and go to sleep. I was scared that I'd go to hell, I was scared I'd drive to the car to get in to go to work, I was scared I'd have a wreck, I'd die and go to hell. But I'll tell you one thing, when I bowed my knee in the office of Union Avenue Baptist Church in Bogalusa, Louisiana, and prayed in my heart, and for God to forgive me and save me, He done the work and it was finished. It was complete. There was nothing else to be done. You didn't have to look for me Sunday morning, next Sunday, the next Wednesday night. I was on a visitation. They had this thing worked out that they had a partner that talked. They had a silent partner. His silent partner was supposed to turn off the TV. He was supposed to do all these other things. I didn't know no better. I mean, I'd done what they told me to do. But thank God I got in there and I stayed in there. The second week after I got saved, I think there's 450 in service, and the preacher said, in just a moment, I'm going to ask Brother Hill to dismiss us. And he talked about five minutes. I was wondering, what am I going to say? You know what I did? I said, Oh God! And that's all. But there was someone between me and Yonker taking it on. Well, that's all I have. People come around and said, well, you know, I know that embarrasses you. And then we know when they'd say that, you know, it did hurt my feelings when they'd say it. But I've learned over the years, Brother Shepard, I don't think I could have prayed a more important prayer. If it happened again, I wish it was the same, but I believe it was a God. A little old young'un down there, old LaRue Hill, a little old newborn baby. Just a little old baby. All he could do is say, oh. But he might have just said that, that's fine. And it was all because of what he'd done there on Calvary. When he finished that work there on Calvary and he prayed that seventh prayer on Calvary there and he commended his spirit back, them Old Testament saints, I believe they began to shout too. Because they had to come out by the blood. Boy, when you get a hold of this, it's finished. T.D.S. time. It's all done. It's like plowing a field. And you, those of you raised on a farm, boy, I always liked when you got to them short rows. You know, it was getting close to the fence, the rows started getting shorter. You got down to that last row, it was done, and you could take the harness off the old mule. The day was complete. The work was done. It was over. Thanks be to God. It's finished. Heavenly Father, thank you for this opportunity. Overrule the imperfections this morning. Speak to hearts. Lord, we pray that you'll use every preacher, lest the message is on the church that'll be brought. God, Brother Jamie, as he moderates, and we'll thank you in Jesus' name. Amen.
