Amen. Well, I'm glad you're here tonight. Amen. Looking forward to the Word of God and we're grateful tonight that you are with us and looking forward to what the Lord may have. Now, we've been preaching on Sunday nights on the sins of the church and we have been through several of them that we have learned about, learned of, and tonight is another one that I believe that we need to pay much attention to, and that is being a busy body. A busy body. I believe that's a sin of the church. That is a horrendous sin. And I believe it's rampant in our churches. I believe it's rampant in our homes and families. I believe being a busy body tonight is not what God would have us to be. I believe tonight, after we go through the scripture, you'll find that if you are a busybody tonight, that you might reconsider and might want to turn from that sin and make it right before the Lord. Busybodies today are very troubling people. Busybodies today cause much trouble. BUSYBODIES ARE PEOPLE TODAY THAT THE LORD DOES NOT AT ALL HAVE ANY FAVOR FOR. IT IS A SIN AGAINST GOD. SO WE WILL LOOK HERE TONIGHT IN I PETER, CHAPTER 4, AND LOOK IN VERSE 15 TONIGHT, THAT WORD IS MENTIONED THERE. LET'S STAND TO OUR FEET IN HONOR OF GOD'S WORD, AND I WANT TO PREACH TONIGHT ON BUSYBODY, OR BUSYBODIES, OR BUSYBEES. Busy bodies are busy bees. We use that term, busy bees, by somebody who's always busy. But tonight, I want to preach on the busy body that are busy bees, and that is they're just busy about everybody else's business. So let's look here in chapter 4 and there in verse 15. It says, But let none of you suffer as a murderer or as a thief or as an evildoer or as a busybody in other man's matters. Let's just read it one more time. This chapter is talking about suffering. Suffering for Christ, suffering for righteousness, suffering as a Christian. Verse 15 is a suffering as a busybody. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. Father, we come to you in Jesus' name. And Lord, I believe tonight, Lord, this is one of the I guess it would be more of the committed sins in our church and God in Christianity and even in our homes. And I pray tonight, Lord, that you might bring conviction upon our hearts. I believe all of us have probably committed this sin. God, we have been guilty of these things, and Father, as we have in many others, and yet tonight, the focus tonight is on busy bodies. We're asking now, Lord, to open our eyes toward this subject. God, give us a clear understanding. God, may we see it as God has written it. And may we understand it as the Spirit of God will help us to understand it here tonight. God, if we are guilty of this sin, God, that we might repent of this tonight and come clean, and come clean with God, and come clean with our homes and families and all those that we have been in the matters of. We pray, Lord, you help us tonight in Christ's name. Amen. Amen. You may be seated. What is remarkable about this here is the associations that are with a busy body. That is alarming to me. That ought to be a red flag to each one of us tonight to see the associations that the busy body is with. If I would say to you outside in just a conversation, would you think being a busy body would be that bad? I would think tonight that we'd probably say, not too bad. You know, I mean, there's worse. There's worse things we can do. I mean, but be a busybody? That seems to be on the lower end. It seems to be the very lesser of sins. To be a busybody is like, you know, we did it all our lives. We're always in the people's business. We're always into trying to figure out other people's matters of business. And so it just seems to be common life. It seems to be normal behavior. It seems to be this human nature, you know, to be a busy body. I tell you tonight, that's why social media is so big because you get to get in on other people's lives and other people's doings and events and happenings. And they do, they say things and you say things and you get to watch and look. PICTURES AND SHOWING PICTURES OF WHERE THEY WENT AND WHAT THEY'RE DOING AND HOW ALL THAT'S GOING. AND BOY, BUSYBODIES LOVE THE SOCIAL MEDIA. THAT'S WHY IT'S EATIN' UP THE CHURCH AND EATIN' UP HOMES AND EATIN' UP HOURS IN YOUR HOME. AND IT'S EATIN' UP YOUR LIFE AND EATIN' UP YOUR BRAIN. Amen? Because the busybodiness of people tonight is real. And social media feels that little satisfaction, that little niche that you and I need. We need to know what the Joneses are doing next door. We need to know what the guy next to you at the end of your pew, what they're doing. We need to know what the co-workers are doing. We need to know what a family member is going and doing. We need to know what's going on in everybody else's business tonight. And tonight, that's sin. And the Bible teaches this to be so clear tonight. And the associations of it is very alarming to me. I want you to look at some other lists tonight. And if you would, as we look at these other lists, in order to get the mind set that I want to get set tonight on the busybody, because I believe that probably 95% of church members or Christians tonight would consider a busy body being something so trivial, being something so small, something so little. There's no big deal. I'm not getting drunk, I'm not stealing, I'm not killing. And so we feel like that because we're a busy body, we're kind of on the good side. But I want you to notice tonight in the associations of what's going on in this verse with some other associations. For example, Romans chapter 1. Turn there with me. And I want you to read the associations tonight. And I just want to get you a clear picture that when God associates one thing with another thing, that all those things tonight are equal. We see in Romans 1, verse 29, and being filled with all unrighteousness. Look at the associations now. There's not one less than the other, or not one better than the other, or not more wicked than the other, and they're all the same in the way of what the result is. It says, being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity, whispers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful, who, knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death." Not just one of those things, but all of those things. And so in the association of Romans chapter 1, we have to admit and to agree that that association of every one of those is not worthy, amen, or is worthy of death. I want you to look at another association, 1 Corinthians chapter 6. 1 Corinthians 6 and verse 9. The Bible says, Again, the association is very clear. Not just one of those, but all of those shall not inherit the kingdom of God. The association is equal. Look at another one, Galatians chapter 5, and look in verse 19. Galatians 5, verse 19. The Bible gives us tonight, it says, Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, adultery, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, rebellings, a rebelling, and such like, of which I tell you before, as I've told you in the time past, that which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God." And so, again, the associations are equal. None of those will inherit the kingdom of God. You say, even somebody who's envying? Yes! The associations are equal. Look at another one, 2 Timothy 3. 2 Timothy chapter 3. You see, the Bible is very clear with the associations that it's making. 2 Timothy chapter 3, I'm sorry. 2 Timothy chapter 3. And verse 1, Know also that in the last days perilous times shall come, for men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truth breakers, false accusers, incontinent fears, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. Then explain in verse 5 what all of them are. Here it says, Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof from such turn away. Every one of those in the prior verses is saying they do not have godliness. They just have the form of godliness. And it's telling me in the way of association tonight, all of that is equal. Revelation chapter 21 and verse 8. Revelation 21 verse 8, But the fearful, the unbelieving, the abominable, the murderers, the whoremongers, the sorcerers, the adulterers, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire, and brimstone which is the second death. Again, the associations tonight of all of these lists that we just got to read out of the scripture, there's five different lists. The one we have tonight is the sixth list, but you got to know something about the associations in the list. They're all equal. Not one is better, not one is easier, not one gets lacked, not one gets less. They all receive the same. And they're all equal in the eyes of God as being sin. We find tonight in our list in 1 Peter chapter 4. We see in the list that we have tonight, it says, But let none of you suffer as a murderer, as a thief, as an evildoer, and as a busybody. So tonight we cannot break down this verse. and say that being a busybody is not equal to being a murderer. We cannot say tonight that being a busybody is less of a sin. than being a thief. We cannot say tonight that being a busybody is something tonight that is softer or maybe more favorable than being an evildoer. Now, we can say tonight that being a murderer and a thief and an evildoer and a busybody in other man's business tonight or other man's matters tonight is something God says not to suffer over. Amen? So the associations tonight are very, very clear. Number one, I want you to notice about this list is the murderer is a criminal who slays someone else. The Bible talks about in verse 15, let none of you. He's talking about Christians tonight. He's talking about those who've named the name of Christ. Those who have their name have to wash in the blood of the Lamb. Those that have been born again. Those tonight that are saved by the glorious gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. He's talking about the church tonight. The born again believers. The bride of Christ. The body of Christ tonight. The army of the Lord Jesus Christ. He's talking about them. Not the world. Not the lost. Not the religious tonight. He's talking about the church tonight. And he's talking about the church saying, let none of you There is no room for anyone tonight to be part of this group. There's no room tonight, there is no grace tonight, there's no space tonight for you to slip in and be this group. He said, none of you. There's absolutely no room tonight to say, I'm not a murderer, I'm not a thief, I'm not evil, but I do got some busybody about me, that's just one of my faults and failures. No, no, that won't fly. tonight the Bible says... A murderer is a criminal. That's what a murderer is tonight. It's a criminal. And it's a criminal who slays someone else. That's what that word murder means. If you look it up, you'll find it to be so. A criminal that slays someone else tonight. Now, we all know tonight that's sin. That's horrible sin. That's wretched sin. You will not go to heaven tonight being a murderer. The Bible teaches that very clearly and very plain. We find tonight, number two, that not only is a murderer a criminal who slays someone else, but a thief tonight is a criminal that steals from someone else. That's what a thief is tonight, who steals from someone else tonight. And that is not something that God takes lightly. The Bible says that no thief will ever inherit the kingdom of God. Does it not say that in Galatians? We just read it. So we find tonight that being a murderer and being a thief tonight are pretty criminal sins, don't you think? The Bible says, number three, an evildoer is a criminal who sins against someone else. That's what an evildoer is, who sins against their brother, sins against their friend, or sins against someone else tonight, is an evildoer. They do evil against others tonight. Fourthly, we see that a busybody is a criminal that seeks someone else. A busybody is a criminal. Now tonight, if a murderer is a criminal, and a thief is a criminal, and an evil one is criminal, do you think tonight that God would put within that verse a busybody that's not a criminal? If all of the associations tonight that we have read and all the other five lists are equal, this list is equal too. I'm trying to make a very important part tonight, a point tonight, that busy bodies are very sinful. We see tonight, just by the way of association, Being a busybody tonight aligns with criminals. If you want to act like a criminal, be a busybody. If you want to be in partnerships with criminals, be a busybody. If you enjoy being associated with criminals tonight, then be a busybody. If tonight you want to be looked upon by God as a criminal tonight, then be a busybody. And if you tonight want to be revealed or exposed tonight by those around you and those that you are part of or those that you have relationship with tonight as a criminal tonight, then being a busybody, that's your business. But God said tonight that these things aligns with criminals. Tonight, busybody is unbiblical. You cannot be biblical tonight and be a busybody. You cannot. You're anti-Bible, you're anti-God, and you're anti-Jesus. Number two, to be a busybody tonight, you are ungodly. There's no godliness about you. There's no holiness of you. There's no righteousness about you. It's ungodliness. It's unbiblical. Being a busybody is unchristian. The Bible says, Here, let none of you suffer. It's unchristian tonight to be a busybody. If you are a busybody tonight, then you're not being or living or acting as a Christian. Number four, being a busybody is unholy. There's no holiness tonight in being a busybody. Matter of fact, it's unholy, it's profane. It's flesh and wicked. It's not holy. Tonight, being a busybody is unacceptable. As much as a murderer or a thief or one tonight that is an evildoer is unacceptable, being a busybody is unacceptable. It's unacceptable with God. It's unacceptable with this church. It's unacceptable with your family. It's unacceptable with God. It is unapproved. Being a busybody is not an approval by God. It's not an approval by this church. It's not approval by your family. It's not approval by your work. It's not approval anyone or no one. It's unapproved. It's unwanted. Being a busybody tonight is unwanted. Nobody wants a busybody in their home. Nobody wants a busybody in their church. Nobody wants a busybody at work. Nobody wants a busybody tonight in the family. It's unwanted. Busybodies are not wanted nor needed. Lastly, it's unfriendly. To be a busybody, friend, you're showing yourself to be unfriendly. You're not trying to make friends. You're not trying to gain friends. You're not trying to be friendly. You're not interested into bringing things together. You're not interested to bring things into a place where it all becomes good and all becomes a pleasure tonight. No, you've got another mind and you've got another motive. Busy bodies. Busy bodies. Just as a murderer, just as a thief, just as a criminal, so is a busybody. Now what does God say He doesn't want? He said this, let none of you suffer as a murderer, as a thief, as one tonight that is an evildoer, or as a busy body in other men's matters. Amen? Verse 13, we find being associated with Christ's sufferings is rejoicing. You see that, verse 13? But rejoice inasmuch as you are partakers of Christ's suffering. So there are going to be sufferings in our lives. We are going to come to a placing of suffering tonight, and God's not saying do not suffer, but He's saying tonight that you're going to suffer Christ's suffering and Christ's sufferings, you're going to rejoice. If you can suffer because of Jesus tonight, rejoice. Anybody? So that's a suffering that we can rejoice in. Number two, in verse 16, we notice that being associated with Christians, a suffering is joyful. He says in verse 16, Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God on his behalf. In other words, be joyful about it. Be glorious about it. I get to suffer as a Christian. I get to suffer as a child of God. I get to suffer as one that's a child of the Lord tonight. I'm the church of the Lord Jesus Christ, and I get to suffer over that. Have joy. Give glory unto God. So we get to suffer for being for Christ. Rejoice. We get to suffer being a Christian. Be joyful. Verse 15, be associated with criminals tonight. Sufferings is sorrowful. It says, but let none of you suffer as a murderer, as a thief, or as an evildoer, as a busybody in other man's matters. That suffering, God said, don't be part of. You have Christ's suffering, rejoice. Christian suffering, be joyful. But this one, you better be sorrowful. You better come to the place tonight and say, Oh God. Oh God, I've been a busybody. And boy, I know it's sin. I know it's wrong. I know you hate it. Because tonight being a busybody is forbidden. Being a busybody tonight is condemned. And being a busybody tonight is sin. And it ought to bring sorrow to your heart. It ought to bring a conviction to your heart. It ought to bring to you tonight in such a place in your soul, I'm afraid, that you feel awful. that you would be considered by anyone in this room as a busybody. Amen? I knew there wouldn't get too many of those tonight. You know, there's messages, man, when you shout it out, but there's messages when you shut it up. This is one of the messages where you shut it up. Amen? Can I say number two tonight? Not only the associations of busybody, but I notice the advances. of being a busybody. The advances. Tonight it says, busybody in other men's matters. As a busybody in other men's matters. In other words, tonight you're a busybody, but you advance it. and you advance your busyness, and you advance the busyness in others' matters, in other man's matters. In other words, you're not just busy about you, you're busy about other man's matters, so you advance the advances of busybody. Let me give you some of them tonight, just to see if you're one of them. So, a busybody tonight, they volunteer their opinions, Whether they are asked or whether they're needed. That's a busybody. Let me say it again. They volunteer their opinions. Whether they're wanted or whether they're needed. That's a busybody. Are you making a checklist yet? You don't put a checklist in your heart tonight. Are you one of those volunteers? that always wants to give your opinion, whether they want it or whether they need it. You always got to put in your two cents. You always got to say something tonight that you feel like, that somehow, someway, that if you don't give your opinion tonight, then everybody in all the world is going to die. It won't happen. It can't go forward. Everything's just going to turn into a mess tonight. Friend, I'm going to tell you something. You're a busybody whenever you voluntarily give your opinion to something tonight, whether they wanted it or whether they needed it. Keep your opinions to yourself. Amen? That's weak. Busybodies tonight, they get involved in the affairs of others. A busybody gets involved in the affairs of others. They're searching, they're seeking, they're asking, they're looking, they're going around, they're trying to do anything and everything they can. They stay up at night, they stay up during the day, they are ones tonight. These busybodies are trying to get into the affairs, trying to get involved in things that they don't need to get involved in. They want to talk about things that they don't need to talk about. They want to take others' matters and others' lives and others' doings and others' ways tonight and they want to take it upon themselves and that they get involved in it. Mind your own business! Try that business for a while. Number three, busybodies interferes with the business of others. You walk up, you hear something, And you want to get involved, you want to interfere, you have something to say, you have what you think needs to take place, what you think needs to happen, friend. A busybody interferes with the business of others. Stop interfering! I'm the mother, big deal! I'm the father, whoopee! Man, listen, mind your own business, mama and daddy. That's the biggest problem a lot of times. Grandma and grandpa, stay in your lane. You're interfering. You think this is hard to hear. You ought to try preaching this. Busybodies tonight not only get involved and they interfere, but busybody invades the lives of others. They just invade. I mean, listen, out of nowhere, they do a text. Where are you going and why are you going there? I heard you talk to Soso the other day. What did they say about me? They make busybody. You just invade on people's talk or communication. You invade in somebody else's space. You invade in whatever they're doing. Listen, friend, stay out. Busybodies. You know anybody like that yet? Busybodies. Busybodies help is uninvited and unwelcomed. Do you know that? Every time you open up your mouth when it ain't your business and it's somebody else's business, it's unwanted and unwelcomed. Man, I'm telling you tonight, busybodies are wicked. And friend, the Bible teaches us tonight that these that advance the matters of other men tonight are very ones tonight that do not want and you do not care for. Busy bodies busy themselves with what does not concern them. They busy themselves with that. I mean, they're busy bee. They're busy bee with trying to concern themselves with things that don't concern themselves. At the end of the day, they're wore out. What did you do today? Oh, I was busy about everybody else's matters. I'm trying to get involved in my family. I'm trying to get in my son's marriage. I'm trying to get in my daughter's marriage. I'm trying to get in my sister. I'm trying to get in my brother. I'm over here at the church matter. I'm over here with the church people trying to figure out what the church people's trying to do and what they're doing in their lives and what's going on in their lives. And then I'm trying to figure out what's happening over there and across the street. I always got my little window open, right, so I can peek out there so I can see what's going on. Up and always since somebody else's matters. A busybody, man, they're busy. They are busy. They're real busy, but they're busy with things that don't concern them. For busybodies that are in this room this evening, can I just tell you something? Not everything is your business. And not everything has to come to your phone, or your text, or to your knowledge. Shock. Shock to many that I don't have to know everything about everybody, everywhere. No. It sure was better when we didn't have phones. It was better, friend, we didn't have internet. It was better, friend, whenever we can live private lives without little peeping toms looking around down in our businesses, amen, and trying to ask questions about what we're doing and what we're not doing. And those busy bees are being busybodies tonight in the business of men when they need to take care of their own. Amen? Oh, I know, I know. Busy bodies tonight don't mind their own business. They don't mind their own business. They got more trouble than Carter's got peanuts. But they're over here. They got more things wrong with their lives. They got more things that are causing trouble and creating problems than anybody else tonight, but they're spending the most of their lives in the business of people that don't concern them, that has nothing to do with them, trying to do something about that tonight. You busybody. I bet you many busybodies have heart attacks. They gotta come through a place of depression sometimes. whenever they don't get all the information that they need in order to be satisfied and content with their little busy heart. They don't mind their own business. Busy bodies are nosy. I love that, is it an icon on the text? One of them little things whenever, like some of y'all, some of y'all when we put something on there, we say something, we put something like 20 words and you put a heart. Give me a break on that. What's that called? Emoji? Emoji, okay. Emoji. Listen, somebody takes a long time to write out something and you put a... or a heart. I'll tell you what I want to do with that heart. I want to get an arrow and shoot that sucker. I hate that. I hate that junk, man. Listen, somebody's going to write something. Stop putting hearts and emojis of that kind and say something. Sorry, I got a little excited right there. But I love that emoji. Is it an emoji? That emoji where it's just a nose. Man, I love that. Somebody asking me questions, what are you doing? Where are you going? I put a big, fat, yellow nose. I mean, listen, friend, I might put two or three of them. I say to my heart, heart, you just told them off right there. Nosey. You know what busy bodies are? They're just nosey. They're going around asking for something. Hey, when somebody's coming up and you say, hey, how you doing? You doing OK? How did last night go? What did you do? And where did you go? And who was you with? Friend, they're not trying to be a friend. They got a nose this long. Hey, man, just call it Pinocchio. They're nosing around. You ever know anybody, they just always got the goods on people? You notice that? They're nosy. You don't get the goods on people unless you're nosing around. Hey, man, hey, when you get home and your wife says, hey, honey, let me tell you about, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. You say, well, my soul, how in the world do you know about all that? I went to look for it. That's right. Amen. Big nose. Busy bodies are nosy. Busy bodies are interested in what people say or do. That's their whole interest. That's their interest. They're not interested in truth. They're not interested in helping you. They're not interested in restoring you. They're not interested in bringing you to a place of glory and causing you to be better than you are. They're just interested in what you're doing and what you're saying. Be careful of these criminals. Busybodies' attitude is self-righteous in pride. That's the attitude of a busybody. It's self-righteous because when you call them out, they're going to say, you worried about me trying to find out something on you? I always got something. They're going to say, why are you worried about it? If you didn't do anything wrong, then you wouldn't be questioning me. Y'all go through that interrogation? Them are busybodies. They were busybodies. And friend, they are ones tonight who are just interested and just ones tonight that are just nosy. They're ones tonight that you would look at and say that they're full of self-righteousness and they're full of pride. Because they're not interested in minding their own business, but they are interested in minding your business. That's pride. I only got three more. For this point, busybodies are curious and want to know everything. And they use that word curious as some sort of spy word. What are you doing? Just curious. Why are you so curious? Because I'm proudful and self-righteous. I'm a busy bee being a busybody. And friends, that's a fact. That's a fact tonight. They're curious. They've got it. Right now, some of y'all can't wait to get home to get on your Facebook or on your, was it Facebook? Or whatever social media you're on right now, because you're missing something right now. There is something going on in your little realm of friends that they're doing, and you don't know nothing about it just yet. But you'll feel better tonight before you go to bed after four hours of this scrolling or flipping or something of that nature. Brother Keith said this morning, stop going like this and going like that. I thought that was pretty good. Because a Bible and a phone. You ain't going to flip your Bible like this. You're going to flip it like that. But tonight I'm telling you, I'm telling you right now, you can't wait to get there. I would challenge you tonight, nobody get on your phone tonight. Why don't you try that for a little while? Nobody take your phone to bed. Brother, you're meddling now. That's what a busybody is, is a meddler. That's what it is. Busybody tonight, they ask prying questions. They just don't ask any questions. They pry. They're like special agents of hell. They're investigators of Satan. They are working from a different point of view. And, man, do they set you up by asking you these certain questions. Because, see, what they want to know, they're trying to get into your business. Because, see, they are a busy body. in a busy bee. And friend, they find that these prying questions are not to comfort you, are not to bring any friendship with you, but they're to find out what they're doing, what you're doing, and why you're doing it. Give me some low down, give me some dirt. Because that's what human beings like, right? I mean, when we watch, I don't know if anybody watching here watches the boxing, Anybody watch boxing? No? Well, if you watch boxing, the favorite part of boxing is when somebody gets hit right in the square in the mouth and they get knocked out. That's the best. Anybody watch racing? Racing? Like car racing? You know what the best of that is? Wrecks. Oh, man. Run into the wall, blow up. I mean, listen, it's just neat. You ever watch any hockey? You know what's my favorite thing about hockey, like ice hockey? It's when somebody gets slammed up against that wall or that glass. Oh, that's the greatest part, man. Anybody watch anything like... Like baseball, and when somebody gets hit with a ball, or when the guy hits the ball and it hits the pitcher, and he gets knocked down and knocks out, that's all over the news. The guy who hit the home run or got the base hit is never on the TV. But when you get hit in the head, and when you get shot with a hundred-mile-an-hour ball, everybody likes that. It's newsworthy. Am I right? That's what busybody's like. Yeah. That's what they want. They want that kind of stuff. Busy bodies, lastly tonight, busy bodies try to orchestrate other people's lives. Orchestrate, what I'm talking about, they try to control people's lives. They tell them where they can go, where they can't go, when to go, how to go, and why to go, because they want to be the busy body of everything. They want to know, it's because if you do what I ask you to do, then I know what you're doing. If you go when I ask you to go, and you don't go when I ask you not to go, and what you do, what you do, if I ask you to do it there, then I know not only in control, but man, I've got to know and have a busy body. And no is what I want. Tonight, the advances of a busybody. That's what that word tonight would represent. Amen? I wonder tonight, do we have any busybodies in the house? Number three, what is the answer to a busybody? Well, let's turn our Bibles to 2 Thessalonians tonight, the second place where this word is used. 2 Thessalonians chapter 3. And we're good on time, so don't worry about that. We have daylight savings time, right? So we got put back an hour, so we're already behind. It don't even matter tonight. We might as well just keep going. 2 Thessalonians chapter 3 tonight in verse 11. The Bible says, For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly. Might want to mark that word there. Working not at all, but are busybodies. Disorderly busybodies. Same thought now, this is the Bible, but we're now in 2 Thessalonians rather than 1 Peter. Now them who are them, busybodies, that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ that with quietness they, who's they? Busybodies, work and eat their own bread. Verse 13, But ye, brethren, be not weary in well-doing. Verse 14, If any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man. That man is what? Busybody. And have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet count him, that's that busybody, not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. We find an answer here to the busybodies. Number one, verses 11 and verse 12, the Bible says that, it says, For you hear that there are some that walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Here's the answer. Now them that were such commanded and exhorted by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work. They work. In other words, do your own business. This is an answer to the busybodies tonight. Do your own business. Work. Do your own business tonight. Get busy. The problem is you're not busy because you're busy about everybody else's business, but you get busy. You do your own business. Get busy doing your own business, be busy doing your own business, and stay busy doing your own business. When you get busy about your business, and you get staying in that business, and when you do that business, you won't have time to get nobody else's business. That's the answer to you tonight. Do your own business. You have your own family. You have your own realm. You have your own world. You have your own space. Do your own business. Stay out of everybody else's. Amen? Work, it says. Work. Work. Busy body. Do your own business. Number 12. Not only do your own business by working, but keep your own business. The Bible says that in verse 12. He says, quietness. Quietness. Keep your own business. Shut up. Be quiet. Stop prying. Stop asking. Stop talking. Do your own business. Keep your own business. By talking about it, stop talking about your business. Be quiet about anybody else's business and don't tell nobody else about your business. Amen. Nobody needs to know your marriage. Nobody needs to know your finances. Nobody needs to know your life. Nobody needs to know what goes on in your home. Nobody needs to know what goes on at night. Nobody needs to know what's going on tomorrow. Nobody needs to know what's going on tomorrow. Nobody needs to know what's going on at the church tonight. Mind your business. Amen. Church has a problem with seeing busy bodies. Do your own business. Keep your own business. Mind your own business. Verse 11, Bible says, For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Mind your own business. That word busybody means moving around uselessly. If you want to look at the definition of it in the Greek, it means that, moving around uselessly. In other words, all day long, you're moving, but you're moving with uselessness. Because you're trying to find somebody else's business in order for you to get into, rather than doing your business, keeping your business, and minding your business. You become a busybody. And you uselessly live your life out. That word also means tonight, not only moving around uselessly, but messing around needlessly. In other words, your day, your life, your existence is just messing around without any need. Because you're so concentrating and so involved and so impressed and not only that, but so addicted to everybody else's business. that you become meshing around needlessly, moving around uselessly. And then thirdly, it means mouthing around worthlessly, just talking, just moving the gums and the lips and making sounds. Stop. That's what busybodies do tonight. Can I say thirdly, not only the answer is to do your own business and keep your own business and mind your own business, but fourthly, to know your own business. The Bible says in verses 14 and verse 15, if this is your business tonight, and the business I'm talking about is a busybody, then tonight I want you to notice in verse 11 it tells us that you need to know that that's disorderly conduct. Know your business tonight. If you're a busybody, then you gotta know your business. And that business tonight, according to verse 11, is a disorderly conduct. And every time when you're in everybody else's business, and when you're not taking care of your own business tonight, you're disorder. Disorder in the church, disorder in your home, disorder in your marriage, disorder in your parenting, disorder at work, wherever and whenever you go, the Bible says you are out of order. a busybody. Amen? Does it not say that? Some of y'all looking at me like I'm just crazy. No, this is disorderly conduct. Number two, know in verse 14 that this busybody business is dividing causes. Look what it says. It says, And if any man obey not our word by the epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he might be ashamed. Have no company with him. In other words, friend, there's a dividing aspect of this. For those that are busybodies, you need to divide yourself from them. You need to remove yourself from them. You say, What if my wife? What if my husband? What if my children? What if my mother? What if my father? What if it's a family? Whatever. Hey, listen. You need to distance yourself from them. Because that criminal behavior is disorderly, but it brings division. You don't think it does. Just your spouse, or just your son, or just your friend has not brought that to your attention yet. But down in the heart and down in the relationship, it is dividing it. Silently, without them letting you know that your busy bodiness, behavior, and activities is dividing my and your relationship. That's what busybodiness does. We find tonight, not only does it divide and it is disorderly, but I noticed thirdly tonight that it distinguishes the character of that individual. The Bible says, note, note that man, mark that man. In other words, tonight, if you know somebody that's a busybody, mark them, mark them. What are you talking about, brother? Get a paintbrush or something and just put an X on them? Mark them. Mark them. Number two, the Bible says not only mark them, but verse 14, it says make them. By marking them, the Bible says make them be ashamed. Let them be ashamed. Make them. By marking them, you can make them be ashamed of their behavior and conduct. It's shameful tonight. Number three, mind them. Verse 15. Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. In other words, tonight, don't go at them with hate, and don't go at them with harshness, and don't go at them with hardness as you would an enemy, but go at them with putting them in your mind. That's what that word admonish means, and it means to warn. warn in love, warn in compassion, and say, listen, me and you can't have any conversations whenever you're going to do busybody business. It's not going to happen with me. And cut it off. Busybody today is a troubling and taxing for all. Busybodies. Can I say lastly, The Advice to a Busy Body. Turn our Bibles to 1 Timothy chapter 5. 1 Timothy chapter 5 and look in verse 13 and 14 tonight. The Advice to the Busy Body. This is God's advice to you if you're a busy body tonight. He says there in that verse, verse 13, He says, and with all they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle, but tattlers also in busy bodies, speaking things which they ought not, are therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. They're talking about widows here, but we can make application to that. Number one, here's the advice to a busy body here tonight, is get an understanding. Get an understanding. Now here's the understanding, if you're a busy body. That all busy bodies are, are just takers. The Bible calls them idle. The Bible says in verse 13, to be idle. To be idle. Idle means inactive or unemployed. Or it means leisure. And those today that are busybodies, they're just takers. They're taking information. They're taking all this stuff in which they can use in order to find out what's going on. They want all the sites. They want all the pictures. They want all the verbiage. They want all the conversations. They want everything that happened last week, the week before, and a month ago. They even go back years. Because they're just takers. Because they're unemployed. Because they're not working their own business, but they're busy bodies. They're inactive in what they ought to be doing. They ought to be washing clothes. They ought to be cleaning the house. They ought to be doing the business at the work. They ought to be doing something today that's profitable and beneficial, but yet they're not doing that, and so they're inactive, and all they're doing is just taking in all this information. Just advice. Just advice. Get understanding. Now understand that you that are busybodies are just takers. Number two, busybodies are travelers. Look at verse 13. The Bible says, wandering about from house to house. They're just traveling around. Now you may not be a traveler as a house to house like it is here, but a travel from one Facebook to another Facebook. From one text to another text. From one friend to another friend. From one family member to another family member. Just traveling around, just trying to do the business that you're good at. A busybody. And you're just a traveler. What did you do today? Oh, I've been in everybody's houses. I was in everybody's vacation. I was in everybody's. They went to the game last night. I was there, I saw it. I'm in everybody's activity. I'm in everybody's lunch. I'm in everybody's date. I'm in everybody's home. I'm in everybody's vacation. I'm in everybody's picture. I'm in everybody's life. What a traveler. Amen? Is that true? That's right, brother Larry. A traveler. A taker. Number three, a taddler. Verse 13, the Bible says, But toddlers. We ever tell our children that? We always tell our children, be a toddler? Or do we say something different? Don't be a toddler. Right? Nobody likes toddlers. I mean, that's big in the homes, right? Nobody likes toddlers. Don't be telling off one of your brothers and sisters. Don't be telling mom and daddy about those things. It's a toddler. Don't be a toddler. Right? I mean, at work, it's the same thing. Don't be tattling on the boss now. Don't be telling the boss what's going on over here. Who's the tattler around here? We say that all the time in the office. How in the world did Mike know that went on? Who's in here said anything to him? We're not going to hurt you too bad. Who's the tattler? Well, that's what busybodies are. They're tattlers. But what are tattlers? Tattlers, by the way of definition, means they are people who just won't stop talking. In other words, you could say it like this, they're a chatterbox. Have you ever been told that before? You're just a chatterbox. You're always just talking. The word tattler means one who talks for just talking's sake. I mean, they just talk because they like to hear themselves talk. You ever heard anybody talk for a long time and say nothing? That's a busybody. I mean, absolutely what they said you cannot even put together. And what all they did say, there was no profit in any of it. That's what a tattler is. A tattler is, it means they're just foolish talking. Just talking foolish. You know, for example, somebody's walking down the street and you say, I bet you they're a murderer. How do you know they're a murderer? Oh, they just look like one. All right? I mean, it's just crazy stuff like that. Or somebody might go somewhere, might do something, and you sit back, and the busybodies will say, you know what? I bet you they're doing something wrong. I guarantee you they drunk something last night. Because they had a birthday party, or they had an anniversary, or they did something, and they went down there to that steakhouse down here. And I know when they got to that steakhouse, they had to drink some wine. Yeah, and they tell their spouse, hey, I bet you they went to that steakhouse dinner and drunk some wine. And the spouse said, how do you know that? I just know. Hey, man, that's a busybody. Knowing what everybody else is doing, whether you know what everybody else is doing or not, you know it. Not only are you a tattler, but you are a talker. Verse 13 says, They are talkers speaking things which they ought not. Those who are telling lies, they're slanders, they're backbiting, they're gossipers, they're saying the wrong things, they're saying They're saying the private things. They're saying the personal things. They're saying the confidential things. They're not only talking too long, but they're talking too much. That's a busybody. Get understanding, but the second understanding that we need to do is get occupied. Verse 14, he gives the answer to verse 13. I'll do it quickly. I got two minutes. He says in verse 13, verse 14, how to fix verse 13. He says, do this, get occupied, that the younger woman marry. Get married woman, because you are idle, and you are a tattler, and you are a busybody. And the only way to fix that is get occupied. Amen. If you get occupied, you'll find yourself minding your own business rather than everybody else's business. Amen. And that's what the answer is for all of us tonight in the way of advice of being a busybody. Get occupied. I mean, make something of you. Get involved in something that's worth getting involved in rather than somebody else's business. Number three, not only get occupied and get understanding, but get responsible, bear children. Bear children, that'll help you on your busybodiness. Because now you got some responsibility that you need to take care of. So when you ain't got nothing to do all day, and you ain't got nothing to do in the day that you have, or whatever day that might be, and you don't have no responsibility, everybody else has responsibility in your house, everybody else is doing what they're supposed to be doing, but you're not doing what you're supposed to be doing, and so you become a busybody, and God said, get responsible. Bear some children. Number three, get accountable. Guide the house. Now he's talking about busybodies. He's talking about idle and taddlers. He's telling them this is what you need to do to fix that. Guide the house. Get accountable. Be accountable for your time. Be accountable for what you do. Be accountable for who you're with. Be accountable for the role that you've got. Be accountable for the responsibility that you hold. Get accountable. Busy bodies are not accountable. Number four, be blameless or get blameless. The Bible says in verse 14, give not occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. In other words, friend, get blameless. Make sure that our enemies or the enemies tonight cannot say something of you that's against you by the way of being a busybody. Verse 15, get right. The Bible says, for some already turned aside after Satan. Now, who are they talking about? Widows? Well, yeah. But what about the widows? Well, the widows that were idle and taddlers and busybody. The Bible says they done already turned aside after Satan. You see, busybodies tonight are going the wrong direction. You're going the direction of Satan. The busybodies tonight are headed for destruction because Satan is headed for destruction. Busybodies are leading to the devil because that's where they're turning Busy bodies are busy bees. They're doing the devil's work. They're doing the devil's will and they're doing the devil's way. That's what the devil does. Tonight, busy bodies. That's a sin in Christianity. It's a sin. In the church, it's a sin. In your home, it's a sin. In your marriage, it's a sin. In your family. Tonight, it needs to go. I wonder tonight, would you take that responsibility if you are a busybody? And God, forgive me. And make it right tonight. Get clean of it. Change your way. Change your life. And I promise you tonight, you'll see great benefit from that. They stand to our feet, our heads are bowed, our eyes are closed. The sins of the church have been tough. They've been not only hard to preach, but hard to receive. Because we're really honest tonight. Every sin that I have preached on in the church, we all have been guilty of that sin, somewhere down the line. Tonight, this is no different. Help your church tonight get clean, O God. Help our church tonight to be purged and pardoned from this awful sin. And may you restore the relationships and restore the fellowships that have been broken due to this sin. Help, Lord. You sing, Brother George, if you need to come tonight, let's just come. Let's just do business with the Father tonight about this other business that we've been doing that we shouldn't be doing, that God would forgive us of it and cleanse us up and restore us tonight. You sing, Brother George. If you need to come, you come. We're not Terry Long tonight. What do you need to do tonight, you need to do it now. What as it is tonight in this busybodiness, tonight you need to confess it. and forsake it. And there you might find mercy with God. Forgive me, Lord. Turn from it. Repent of it tonight. God will give you help. God will bring restitution. God will bring resolve. God will bring power in your life that you don't do this any longer. You'll be something behind you instead of before you. Busy bodies, busy bodies. Yes, Lord. Thank you for the conviction of heart. Thank you for the truth that you laid out before us tonight. Thank you, God. You're so good to us. You're so good. Thank you for opening my eyes. Thank you for showing me tonight, dear God, where I've been wrong, where I've been a busybody. Forgive me. Cleanse me, Lord. Amen. Appreciate you, church. May the Lord bless you. Brother Roberts, good to see you, brother. We've been missing you around here. You've been playing hooky. I'm glad you're back, though. All right, I want you to dismiss us tonight. Father, we thank you for the Word of God. It's quick, it's powerful, it's alive, and it reveals truth to our hearts. We thank you, Lord. We, Father, we recognize that we've inherited a lot of these things that's come upon us, and we just think it's part of us. Father, forgive us and help us lay aside these weights and sin and run with patience and take care of our business and focus on your business and reaching souls. Yes, Lord. And praying and encouraging Oh God heal. Yes. Amen. Thank you brother.
