Hey, good morning everyone. Welcome to another morning devotion with Brother Mark, where we are walking together on our walk with Christ. Today is March the 3rd, 2022. Well, remember I'm using quotes from Sunday night's messages, and the next quote that I want to use is, the Spirit is given to sanctify us. So, Brother Jerry mentioned that, and so I want to think about that for just a minute. But, you know, maybe we don't think about the work of the Spirit in our everyday lives. However, we do want to remember that it is the work of the Spirit to sanctify us. The work of the Spirit is to set believers apart from the world. Every day, we should sense the Spirit opening our eyes to the presence of sin in our lives. We should also sense the leadership of the Spirit walking us toward the righteousness of Christ. Romans 8, 14 says, for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. So we think about being led by the Spirit of God. So we do see that what Paul was telling the Romans is that the Spirit leads the children of God. In other words, if you are a child of God, the Spirit is going to lead you. But what does it mean to be led by the Spirit? Gill says the allusion here is to being led by the spirit is to the leading of blind persons or such who are in the dark or rather to the leading of children and teaching them to go. So the thought is that the person who needs to be led because they cannot see the way to go. So they rely upon outside forces or outside strength to help them find their way. And so Would you consider that you don't know the way? Would you consider that you need to be led by the Spirit? Would you... Consider that the Holy Spirit is in control of your life, that the Holy Spirit is leading your life because you don't know the right way to live. You don't know the right way to act. You don't know the right way to talk. You don't know what is right. So you are totally dependent upon the Holy Spirit of God to guide your steps. And most people don't live like that. Most people think they got it all figured out. Most people think they don't need the Spirit of God. But if you're a child of God, you're going to be led by the Spirit of God. We also want to focus for a minute on the tool which the Spirit uses to lead us, and it is the Word of God, because John 17, 17 says, sanctify them through thy truth, thy word is truth. And so that tells us that we are sanctified through the Word of God because the Word of God is true. So the Spirit of God will direct our steps in following Jesus according to the Word of God. As a follower of Jesus, you will be determined to walk in a way in the pathway which the Word of God describes. As you follow the urging of the Holy Spirit, which is according to the Word of God, you will be more and more sanctified, or more and more set apart from the world. So are you sensitive to the urgings and pleadings of the Holy Spirit in your daily walk? Do you consider the Word of God in determining your actions, your attitudes, your words and desires? How much power does the Word of God have in your life to control your life? Can you see the Spirit sanctifying you? Can you notice a difference between you and the world because the Spirit is sanctifying you? I pray that you can today. Let's pray. Lord, today I thank you for this truth. I thank you that the Holy Spirit is at work in my life showing me the sin that is in the world and the sin that is in my life. Lord, I thank you that the Holy Spirit leads me in the way which leads to life. Lord, we thank you for the Spirit's conviction of sin and also the chastening of the Holy Spirit. We thank you that the Spirit is working in us to transform us into the image of the Son of God. I pray today, Lord, that I will always be sensitive to the Spirit's leading. I pray that I will confess that sin which so easily besets me and that sin which separates between me and God. I pray that I can always follow the Spirit's leadership and that that leadership will lead me into a closer walk with Thee. I thank you that's the truth we find in your word and I pray that you'll work this truth in the lives of your people. It is in the name of Jesus and because of Jesus we pray. Amen. Hope you're having a good week. Until tomorrow, Brother Mark signing off.
