Clinton R. Ooten, Sr.

About the Pastor
Pastor Clinton R. Ooten, Sr. has served the Lord faithfully for more than sixty years, ministering from his hometown of Williamson, West Virginia. Ordained as a pastor and devoted to the preaching of God’s Word, he has spent his life proclaiming the gospel with clarity, conviction, and unwavering commitment to biblical truth.

Called to ministry at the age of twenty-four, Pastor Ooten pursued higher education in order to be well prepared for the work to which God appointed him. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Bible, with a minor in English, from Bob Jones University. From the beginning of his ministry to the present day, his preaching has been shaped by a steadfast dedication to expository teaching—presenting Scripture verse by verse so that God’s Word speaks for itself.

Pastor Ooten’s ministry is driven by three core aims:

  1. To exalt the Lord Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith. (Hebrews 12:2)
  2. To equip God’s people for their spiritual journey through the whole armor of God. (Ephesians 6:10-18)
  3. To prepare believers to give a reason for the hope that is within them. (I Peter 3:15)

A central passion of his preaching is sharing the profound truth that “God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,” (Romans 5:8). His favorite passage, Ephesians 2:8–10, reflects his deep conviction about the grace of God and the purpose He has ordained for every believer.

Now retired, Pastor Ooten treasures time with his family, finding joy, grounding, and blessing in those moments.

Through B.E.S.T. (Basic Expository Sermons Taught), Pastor Ooten’s vision is that every believer would come to see more clearly the saving work of our Lord Jesus Christ and grow in a deeper knowledge of His Word.
