Jessica's 2nd Heaven Anniversary and general update

We just got back from visiting family in South Carolina. We went for my cousin's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding, it was nice to see everyone, and it was great to get away. I will update more about the wedding once I get the pictures together and posted. We had a lot of fun hanging out with the cousins and their families. Time goes by so fast. There were 5 of the great-grandchildren that we saw for the first time. I think there were enough little kids there for Gene to entertain and play with...11 to be exact. I hope that Steve and Jamie were able to put their house back together after that night.

Today (11/9) will be Jessica's 2nd heaven anniversary. Life has been so overwhelming lately that I haven't really had time to think about what I wanted to do to remember her. Since my mom and I had the day off of work, we met Gene at her gravesite and left some flowers and an angel. I've been reflecting on my life lately, and feel the need to change something. I have a hard time enjoying things now because my mind is constantly moving. The few days off from work and church were nice, but it may not be enough. I'll just wait for the Lord's guidance, cuz I don't have the power to change anything.

Tina and I went to a couple concerts in October. I posted some pictures. This was my first time seeing Casting Crowns. I love their first album. They have such a heart for youth ministry, and it was refreshing to hear them speaking from their heart and wanting to help youth leaders reach their youth. They posted the words to the songs up on the screen, which made it easier to enter into a time of worship. The drummer just went off on a drum solo towards the end. He was having so much fun...it was contagious. One of the gals was performing even though she was like 7 or 8 months pregnant. She was still amazing. We took our "son" to the second concert. I went to see The Afters. We missed out on them at Spirit West Coast. There is this solo that the Bassist does with a guitar that is just amazing. The first time we heard it we just sat there with our jaw dropped for a few moments before we turned to each other and were like, "he's good". We got to spend some time with them after the concert. We had a good time with them...showed off my ringtone of one of their songs, took some jabs because my name, and maybe scared off the bassists since I told them that we follow them around just to hear that song he sings. :) Jeremy Camp was Jeremy Camp. I guess I can say that since this was the 4th time I had seen him this year...one of the events was a 3-day conference where he was the worship leader. It was still worth seeing. They added an accoustic set which was nice. The drummer...or percussionist, as my son would say...played a box during this set. Jeremy sang the encore with his wife which was really sweet. Another thing that happened at the concert is I ran into a friend of mine who I hadn't seen since high school. We didn't even live close to each other very long. We were basically penpals (pre-internet) for a while, and had lost touch. She drove 2-3 hours to see this concert, and she saw me as I was going past the autograph line. It also ends up that she is going to church with my sister-in-law in San Jose. God's ways are so much more exciting than our way sometimes. Well, enjoy the pictures. I'll update again when I have the wedding pictures ready.

Finally!!! We have a grave stone. I wanted to have one by her birthday (5/1). I took a couple pictures. It really stands out since it is black and since it is only 1 of 3 uprights in the whole section.

A couple days ago I went to check out the progress on the grave marker. I wanted to check on the color of the stone because I left it up to them as far as the type of granite they would use. They finished the front and were starting to work on...
