Proverbs 4:23–26 (NKJV): Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life. 24 Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you. 25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you. 26 Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established.
This one habit would save us so much grief. The simple act of thinking about what we are looking at, where we are headed, what we are listening to, and with whom we spend our lives. All of these factors make up the landscape of our hearts. They collectively determine the spiritual temperature of our souls. If we set our heart upon what is contrary to the things of God, then we should not be surprised when we are not passionate about Him, when sin creeps in and we suddenly awaken to find our lives in ruin. The truth is that catastrophic upheavals rarely occur in a vacuum of circumstantial preparation. When they are revealed, we can almost always find a trail of acts, words, rebellions and foolish decisions that lead inexorably to the destruction that we find. The man who sets his life in such a manner as to seek God and to delight in that which pleases the Father, will find, that when difficult things arise (and they will) that his life is still solid. His hope is undiminished, his peace is still present and his joy still abounds. Though sorrow may come, weeping only lasts for the night, and joy comes in the morning! The habit of being thoughtful and intentional about our direction, will ensure that we are moving toward an end that we actually WANT. Beloved, please consider, God desires that His children walk with Him; His ways are always best and there is nothing out there which will bring a better hope than His blessing. If you belong to God, let the path of your life show it, and find His blessing poured out over all your days!!
