“ How glorious! How excellent! ”
What a wonderful sermon. Thank you so much. Whenever I am tempted to return to my "good works" to please Him, I recall Hebrews 11:11, and wonder again how Sara could possibly have conceived seed by her own strength, by trying to "do good". And not only that, the child that was formed within her body could never have been, without a living faith possessed by her own husband. None of this is due to her own goodness or wisdom or faith. Rather, all this is of God alone, working His faith in each believer. (Luther 95 Theses)

“ You Made My Heart to Quake ”
You are a powerful preacher, Brother Fortner. Your preaching was that which led me into learning doctrines of grace and began me on my journey of embracing TULIP more fully. Your sermon on Romans 11 really hit home for me. I was recently dealing with a false teacher on Youtube no-less who has been promoting the notion that the Philippines is the Biblical land of Ophir and a strong candidate for the ancient site of the garden of Eden--fascinating subjects, but the speaker also injected teachings that were peculiar. First, he would use apocryphal books like The Jubilees and slip in law-keeping and works-based religion, like observing the Ten Commandments. Naturally my hackles went up and I rebuked him for it. Secondly, he would use substitute names for Jesus and God, namely "Yahuwah" and "Yehosha" despite the fact he's an English-speaker. It always offends me when people invent "Hebrew" sounding names and I suspect he was part of the Sacred Name/Hebrew Roots cult. I have never known any other God or blessed name than that revealed to us in holy writ, it is JESUS to whom I shall always pray. But my heart shook starting at 32'43" like you were talking right to me, Don. God's warning not to stray after other gods like "Yahuwah" or "Yehosha" and I pray I never will. Thank you.

“ Great Sermon! ”
This sermon is excellent. The bad morality of man generally reflects the kind of generation we are in today. My thoughts go to this one reason: The church systems are reaching out their hands to society around them but their hands are so full that their hearts are empty. What do busy preachers or busy Christians know about the secret place of the Most High? The churches are filled to overflowing with members who are so busy running hither and thither, on errands of mercy and ministry it may be, that they are never alone with God. What more of the ungenerated man?

Hearing the Word of God

“ Timely and Vital Message! ”
Brother Don, thank you so much for preaching this message. Aside from the importance of understanding the Gospel is robbed of its power when we reject or overlook the truth of Limited Atonement, your general message about the importance of HEARING the word of God preached is absolutely crucial in our day. I point out that we have a perfect Scriptural example of why the word of God in the Bible needs to be preached, discussed, and spoken to willing hearers, and not merely studied or read, from Acts 8:30-38 where the Apostle Philip comes across a curious eunuch reading passages from the Old Testament prophet Isaiah. The eunuch admits he has no understanding about what he's reading and confesses, “How can I [understand], unless someone guides me?" (v. 31). Dear believers, you must be willing to hear the word of God preached in addition to studying it so that it can bear real fruit in your hearts and lives. God bless Brother Don for being one of the lone voices in the wilderness preaching a true and living message and true doctrine of God's word. May God inspire and raise up powerful preachers of his ilk in this and future generations! Hallelujah to our Lord Jesus Christ.
