NCT straw man argument Its not, as NCT advocates tell it, that if I don't tithe, or keep the laws or commandments, or whatever, that I think "God'll git me!" This I think is a straw man argument of the NCT, i.e. that non-NCTers obey the law because they fear "God'll git 'em" if they don't. Or that we fear loss of salvation because we foolishly believe our salvation is tied to our works.
We non-NCTers obey out of love for God and because of God's numerous promises of his blessings he is pleased to shower down on those who obey his commandments. I tithe for the same reason that I observe a sabbath rest: out of extreme gratitude to a all-forgiving God. I do not keep the commandments out of fear of eternity in hell for not doing so. I wish one day I will hear the NCT movement stop misrepresenting why we obey the law. It was the Pharisees who obeyed the law because they thouhht it made them righteous in God's eyes. Just because I obey the commandments handed down by Moses does not make me a Pharisee. It just makes me obedient to what is clearly the will of God for all eternity.
