Unconditional Election

“ Great Sermon! ”
This is a fantastic sermon on this doctrine. It's so easy to be members of reformed churches, call ourselves "reformed" and become rusty in the basic reformed doctrines of the Bible that Rev. Schwertley takes the time and study to preach about. Thank you for your loving boldness, clarity and uncompromising, no nonsense preaching. It's such a blessing to hear with all the declension in the reformed churches nowadays. No seeker friendly preaching here! Listening is like a good, hard physical workout. It's going to burn, but the listening saint will see results in their life as the preached word ministers. I'm glad you've added more sermons! May God bless your family and ministry.

Righteousness of Christ

“ An Excellent Lecture ”
Great lecture! Once God opens our eyes, the imputed righteousness of Christ is very Good News! The truth is really rather simple once you see it...! If a sinner like me can see the Light an become eternally saved, so can you! I was once ignorant of this truth, and sad to say, going about to establish my own "righteousness before God"...Romans 10:3... I was once a lost Arminian who knew nothing of election, imputed righteousness, particular redemption, etc. Thank God for the true Gospel of God's wonderful Sovereign Grace that eternally saves the soul!

Sermon:
Exclusive Psalmody Part I
Brian Schwertley

“ Very Good, Clear Teaching ”
Whatever one's stance is on the topic of exclusive psalmody, this sermon is very interesting and educational exegetically and historically. Rev. Schwertley is correct that many of those churches that oppose exclusive psalmody do not sing the psalms as God commands in His Word. Admittedly, some sing a few a month. Whatever one's position, we are commanded to sing psalms and are commanded to sing in unity. If churches would follow this method, I'm wondering if there would even be an argument; since musicians would have to sing along with everyone else instead of being a spectacle. Who would have an appetite for the evangelical syrup of the "As The Deer" song after singing the complete Ps 42 from the psalter? If we don't use the psalms as a standard, what other standard is biblical? It seems to me that all Christians should use the psalter. Many saints will object to CCM, and others to "The Old Rugged Cross", or some other revivalist song. But who is going to object to the psalter besides a unitarian? And that person has more problems than their musical tastes, being that they're not a believer in the first place. Again, whatever one's stance, at least the exclusive psalmodist cares about what they sing. So many reformed Christians do not.

“ Circular Reasoning ”
Although I am considering the tounges issue I think this sermon is quite circular in reasoning. To assume that 'the language of angels' would be constructed on the basis of earthly language (verbs, adverbs, etc)is to presume to much. A heavenly language may have a construct foreign to our understanding where in a few words there is a 'paragraph' of interpretation. Our greatest weakness is to look for a confirmation of what we believe rather than search for truth even to the detriment of our long held beliefs. Having come out of the charismatic movememt I am re-examinin everything but I can't afford to allow my (new) Reformed bias to dictate to scripture.

“ Pure Excellence! ”
I couldn't agree with Mike more except to say this was the best sermon exposing this heresy that I've ever heard in my life. Thank you Pastor Brian from another former charismatic.

“ Solid sermon ”
i like this speaker's sermons. they are sound and biblical. one thing tho... some of us aren't from ideal homes and don't have fathers to help us find our mates. but i think it is great if you are a parent or have a father.
